Job Description: Interaction Designer

Contract Type: inside IR35

Duration: 6-Month Contract (with potential for extension)

Clearance Requirement: Must hold active Security Clearance (SC)

Location: London (hybrid twice per week, 3 days remote)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Interaction Designer to join our team on a 6-month contract. This is a critical role where you will design user-centered solutions, enabling seamless interactions between users and digital services. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create intuitive and accessible interfaces that meet user needs while adhering to organizational goals and technical constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct user research to understand user needs, tasks, and environments.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and interaction flows to define the user experience.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and UX researchers to translate research insights into actionable design solutions.
• Iterate on designs based on user feedback, stakeholder input, and testing results.
• Ensure designs meet accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and align with brand and government design guidelines.
• Advocate for user-centered design principles throughout the project lifecycle.
• Document and communicate design decisions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience as an Interaction Designer or in a similar role, ideally within government or highly regulated sectors.
• Familiarity with the Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and designing within the GDS framework.
• Strong proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
• Ability to prototype at varying levels of fidelity, from sketches to clickable prototypes.
• Knowledge of user-centered design principles, usability testing, and accessibility best practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance user needs with business objectives.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Must hold active SC clearance.
