About CoreConnect

CoreConnect, a flagship product by VentureOne, the commercialization arm of the Advanced Technology Research Council, acts as the digital glue within the complex ecosystem of autonomous mobility in logistics.

CoreConnect is building the infrastructure layer for autonomous operations in complex ecosystems. We develop a robot orchestration platform that enables logistics and other operators to deploy, manage, and scale fleets of autonomous robots across real-world environments. Our technology sits at the intersection of robotics, operations software, and intelligent automation, and we're just getting started.

Role Overview

We are hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to own and evolve the infrastructure that CoreConnect runs on. You will be the

engineer the rest of the team relies on to make AWS, our edge connectivity, and our deployment pipelines fast, observable,

and boring in the best possible way.

Most of our footprint runs on AWS, but the nature of the business means we also operate air-gapped, on-prem

deployments for customers whose environments cannot — or will not — touch the public internet. These setups mirror

parts of our cloud platform inside isolated networks, and they come with their own realities: offline package mirrors,

signed artefact promotion, manual update windows, and infrastructure you cannot SSH into from your laptop. We want

someone who is fluent in cloud-native patterns and equally comfortable shipping a hardened, fully disconnected stack into

a customer's facility and keeping it healthy.

This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role. You will set technical direction for how we run production, raise the

bar on reliability and security, and partner closely with backend, autonomy, and integration engineers across the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the AWS platform. Design and evolve our AWS environment — VPCs, EKS, RDS (Postgres), IoT Core, networking, and
  • identity — using CDK as our infrastructure-as-code standard.
  • Run production. Build the observability, alerting, and on-call practices that keep an orchestration platform for moving
  • vehicles trustworthy. Datadog and Sentry are our primary tools; you will deepen how we use them and decide what else
  • we need.
  • Ship the pipelines. Maintain and improve CI/CD across our services and edge components, so that going from a merged
  • PR to production is fast, safe, and reversible.
  • Connect the edge. Manage the connectivity layer between cloud and vehicle — AWS IoT Core, MQTT brokering, certificate lifecycle, and the small fleet of on-prem and depot devices that keep data flowing.
  • Air-gapped on-prem deployments. Specify, deploy, and support hardened on-site stacks for customers running in isolated environments — bare-metal and virtualised Linux, local Kubernetes, internal package and container registries, offline update flows, and the operational practices that keep a disconnected system trustworthy without a phone-home channel.
  • Security and compliance as a default. Implement least-privilege IAM, secrets management, image scanning, and the controls our customers and regulators expect. Drive our posture forward rather than reacting to audits.
  • Make other engineers faster. Provide paved-road patterns, internal tooling, and documentation so product engineers can self-serve the common cases and reach for you on the hard ones.
  • On-call. Participate in a shared on-call rotation and step in when production needs you — periodic, not constant, but a real expectation of the role. We expect you to help us keep the rotation humane: better alerts, better runbooks, fewer pages over time.

Qualifications

  • Experience. 6+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles, with significant time as a senior engineer in a production environment that mattered.
  • AWS depth. You are fluent in core AWS services — VPC, EKS, RDS, IAM, IoT Core, CloudWatch, Route 53 — and have made meaningful architectural decisions on a real AWS estate. CDK experience is strongly preferred; if it's Terraform today, you are ready to operate in CDK.
  • Kubernetes in production. Real EKS experience: workload design, autoscaling, networking (CNI, ingress, service mesh as needed), and the failure modes that don't show up in tutorials.
  • CI/CD. You've designed and operated modern pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar) for multi-service systems, including artifact management, environment promotion, and deployment safety.
  • Observability mindset. Comfortable with Datadog, Sentry, and the broader observability toolkit. You think in SLOs, you instrument by default, and you can tell the difference between a noisy alert and a useful one.
  • Postgres operations. You've run Postgres in production — sized it, tuned it, recovered it, and understood what RDS does and doesn't do for you.
  • Edge / connectivity comfort. Working knowledge of MQTT, IoT messaging patterns, certificate-based device auth, and the realities of intermittent networks.
  • On-prem and air-gapped experience. You've stood up and operated Linux servers — and ideally full application stacks —outside the cloud. You're comfortable with networking basics (VLANs, VPN, firewalls), bare-metal provisioning, and the specific discipline of running systems with no internet access: mirrored repositories, signed images, offline upgrades, and break-glass procedures that actually work.
  • Scripting and automation. Strong Python and Bash. Comfortable writing the small tool that saves the team an hour a week.
  • Engineering rigor. Git-native workflow, comfortable in code review, and able to write the document that prevents the next outage.

Nice to have

  • Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, fleet management, or other physical-systems platforms
  • ROS / ROS2 familiarity or comfort working alongside teams that use it
  • AWS IoT Greengrass or comparable edge runtime experience
  • Service mesh, eBPF-based networking, or other modern Kubernetes data-plane tooling
