Mission Overview:

As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, installation, management, and troubleshooting of corporate networks (routing, switching, optical fiber/WDM). This position is a consultancy mission at a client site representing Keystone Solutions, where you will work on-site with network, security, and monitoring solutions while delivering clear technical documentation. You will collaborate with operations and security teams to ensure the availability, performance, and security of network infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain routed and switched networks.
  • Configuration and management of (Next Generation) firewalls and IPSec VPNs.
  • Installation and maintenance of optical fiber networks including WDM.
  • Physical installation and cabling of network equipment in data centers/sites.
  • Automate and script tasks using Python.
  • Set up and utilize network monitoring and open-source tooling.
  • Use of SIEM/log collectors; analyze logs and support incident investigations.
  • Draft and maintain technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders; provide support during escalations and change activities.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Valid driving license B (mandatory) and willingness to work 100% onsite.
  • Proven experience with routing & switching (broad foundation).
  • Good knowledge of Python for scripting and automation.
  • Experience with (Next Generation) firewalls and IPSec VPN configuration.
  • Experience with optical fiber networks and WDM technology.
  • Practical experience with physical installation of network equipment (rack, cabling).
  • Experience with Linux (usage and basic management).
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Prometheus, LibreNMS, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge and experience with open-source networking tools and automation (Ansible, NetBox, etc.).
  • Experience with SIEM and log collectors (usage and basic configuration).
  • Languages: Dutch and/or French and English (fluent in spoken and written).
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Must possess Belgian nationality and a valid security clearance National, NATO & EU, at least level SECRET and/or be able to apply for one.


Desired (Nice-to-Have) Additions:

  • Certifications: CCNA/CCNP or equivalent.
  • Experience with fiber certification and testing equipment (OTDR, power meter).
  • Knowledge of network security frameworks and best practices.
  • Experience with change management and ITIL processes.
