Our client is seeking a Senior IBMi Software Engineer to contribute to both BUILD (software development in projects) and RUN (operational support) activities. As a Software Engineer, your key responsibilities include:

• Developing or adapting IT solutions to improve business processes.
• Analyzing functional requirements and creating technical designs.
• Writing and testing high-performing, reliable software using RPG-free and SQL.
• Performing unit and integration tests and handling bug fixes during testing and after go-live.
• Maintaining technical documentation and delivering troubleshooters.
• Supporting the go-live process and resolving operational incidents.
• Reporting progress to project managers, operational staff, and team leads.

• Plans and organizes tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
• Is willing to participate in operational support rotations (after 6–12 months).

Must-Haves:

• 8+ years of experience as an IBMi/RPG-free developer.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and familiarity with XML.
• Experience with RDI and modular programming.
• Familiarity with both legacy software integration and creating new applications.
• Previous experience in waterfall project methodologies and operational support.
• Optional but valuable: experience in retail, logistics, or supply chain; coaching experience; knowledge of ARCAD skipper.

Practical Information:

• Location: Bornem (with up to 3 days of remote work per week).
• Duration: 1 year (extension possible based on performance).
• Languages: Dutch and English.
