We're looking for a hands-on Lead Engineer to lead our platform team and serve as the technical backbone of Capital 33. This is not a management-only role — you'll write production code, own the architecture of our C33 debt lending platform, and coordinate a growing engineering team on the ground. You'll report directly to the founder and the CTO and be the on-the spot and go-to person for every platform-related question, from system design decisions to live monitoring during project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the local engineering team across back-end, front-end, and data workstreams
- Lead compliance integrations, certification and coordinate CISO
- Own the end-to-end architecture of the C33 platform — microservices, data pipelines, AI integrations, and client-facing applications
- Write production code daily, primarily in TypeScript/NestJS and Python, while setting technical standards for the team
- Act as the primary technical point of contact during project monitoring, client onboarding, and platform audits
- Make system design decisions for multi-region deployment, disaster recovery, and scaling strategies
- Run sprint planning, code reviews, and technical retrospectives
- Translate product and business requirements into technical roadmaps and delivery milestones
- Hire, mentor, and grow junior and mid-level engineers
- Collaborate directly with the AI/ML team on model integration, data architecture, and real-time inference pipelines
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or engineering management role
- Expert proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS
- Working knowledge of Python
- Deep understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and API design
- Hands-on experience with both SQL (Clickhouse) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases at scale
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams of 5+ people while remaining hands-on
- Experience owning platform reliability — monitoring, incident response, and post-mortems
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native infrastructure (Cloudflare Workers, Azure, Kubernetes)
- Excellent communication skills — able to explain complex technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps practices
Nice to Have
- Experience in FinTech, lending platforms, or financial services
- Background with AI/ML integration and LLM-powered workflows
- Familiarity with Cloudflare's ecosystem (Workers, R2, D1, Queues)
- Knowledge of financial compliance, KYC/AML processes, and regulatory requirements
- Prior experience as a founding or early-stage engineer at a startup
Tech Stack Highlights
- Backend: TypeScript, NestJS, Node.js
- Databases: Clickhouse, MongoDB, Redis
- Cloud Infrastructure: Cloudflare (Workers, Pages, R2, Queues), Azure, Kubernetes
- AI/ML: OpenAI, Claude, DeepSeek, Prophet
- Payments & Banking: Stripe, GoCardless
- Monitoring: New Relic, Sentry
- Security: Auth0, JWT, OAuth 2.0
