How You Will Make An Impact
We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior Android Automotive Engineer to design, develop, and optimize in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) features on Android Automotive OS (AAOS). You’ll work closely with platform teams, system engineers, and UX specialists to deliver robust, scalable, and production-ready solutions for connected vehicles. This role combines deep technical expertise in Android internals with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and implementation.
As part of our team, you will have to:
Develop and customize Android Automotive OS features and services, with focus on one or more domains such as Wireless/BT, DGI, Camera, or Display.
Work closely with architects, hardware engineers, and UX teams to ensure smooth integration across system layers.
Debug, profile, and resolve system-level issues at the Framework, HAL, and service layers using tools like Logcat, Systrace, Perfetto, and DLT Viewer.
Contribute to custom Android system services, applications, and IVI-specific features.
Ensure delivered components meet performance, stability, maintainability, and security requirements.
Stay up to date with AOSP/AAOS evolution and support platform upgrades and migrations.
Participate in Agile workflows (Scrum or SAFe), including sprint planning, estimations, and technical discussions.
What you need to succeed:
6+ years of Android development experience, including 3+ years with Android Automotive OS.
Strong development background in Android Platform with solid skills in Kotlin, Java, and C/C++.
Deep understanding of Android internals: Framework, System Services, HAL, Binder, AIDL/HIDL.
Practical experience in at least one core Automotive domain: Wireless/BT, DGI, Camera, Display, or related areas (Audio, Video, Connectivity, Car Services, Multi-User/Display).
Hands-on experience with Vehicle HAL, IVI features, and custom system service development.
Strong skills in system troubleshooting and performance profiling using Logcat, Systrace, Perfetto, DLT Viewer, protocol analyzers, or hardware debugging tools.
Knowledge of vehicle networks (SOME/IP, MOST, CAN, LIN) and automotive boot flows.
Working knowledge of SELinux policies and security contexts in Android.
Experience with Android build systems (Soong, Bazel, Gradle) and version control tools (Git, Gerrit).
Excellent problem-solving ability, hands-on approach, and confidence navigating large codebases.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience in Agile environments (Scrum, SAFe).
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience with CTS (Compatibility Test Suite) and CDD (Compatibility Definition Document) compliance for Android Automotive.
Knowledge of power management in automotive Android platforms.
Familiarity with Car UI Library and Google Automotive Services (GAS) integration.
Experience contributing to open-source Android projects or upstream AOSP.
Understanding of input routing architectures.
Exposure to Functional Safety (ISO 26262) or cybersecurity standards (e.g., UN R155/R156).
Familiarity with Android updates and OTA mechanisms in an automotive context.
Hands-on experience with Android platform migrations, e.g., upgrading AOSP versions.
Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Buildkite).
Experience with ASPICE (Automotive SPICE) processes and assessments in a professional automotive development environment.
Hands-on experience with IVI platforms outside of Android Automotive OS, such as QNX, AGL, or proprietary systems.
Working knowledge of Rust programming language and its application in systems or embedded development.
