Job Title: Data Analyst
Location: Toronto, ON
Duration: 6 Months with possible extension
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and business-focused Data Analyst to transform complex data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making and business growth. This role requires end-to-end ownership of business dashboards, analytics initiatives, and data-driven projects while partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders.
As a key analytics partner, you will collaborate with business leaders, analytics teams, and data engineering teams to scope, prioritize, and deliver impactful insights that improve business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Own, maintain, and optimize key business insights dashboards, serving as the primary point of contact between business users and analytics/data engineering teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve dashboard functionality, reporting accuracy, and overall data quality.
- Lead analytics projects from initiation to delivery, managing priorities, clarifying ambiguous business requests, defining timelines, and ensuring successful execution.
- Perform complex ad-hoc analysis using SQL, including:
- Customer segmentation
- Cohort analysis
- Funnel performance analysis
- Root cause analysis
- Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations to support business strategy.
- Build, enhance, and maintain scalable dashboards (primarily in Tableau) for KPI tracking, business health monitoring, and funnel visibility.
- Communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership, through compelling storytelling and data visualization.
- Drive data-informed decision-making by synthesizing complex datasets into meaningful business narratives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 3–6 years of experience in Data Analysis or Business Analysis with increasing ownership and complexity.
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL, including:
- Complex joins
- Window functions
- CTEs
- Query optimization
- Strong hands-on experience with Tableau for building and maintaining production dashboards.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and large dataset manipulation.
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis, scripting, and automation.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities with experience handling ambiguous business problems independently.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills with the ability to present insights clearly to business stakeholders.
- Strong project ownership with the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with analytics, product, engineering, and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Experience with A/B testing, experimentation design, and performance measurement.
- Prior experience in e-commerce, product analytics, marketing analytics, or customer analytics.
- Understanding of data engineering concepts and working knowledge of data pipelines and data quality management.
