Job Description
You will be part of a growing regional team, acting as a key point of contact for a wide range of clients and colleagues. This is a dynamic role that will allow you to develop not only your technical knowledge but also your professional network and business acumen. You can also expect a fast-paced, friendly and engaging working environment.
The opportunity
Group Finance is establishing an AI-assisted analysis capability — built on Anthropic's Claude — to help the team interrogate, summarise and quality-check the financial reporting flowing in from across the Group. We're looking for a numerate, curious intern to help design, test and operationalise these workflows.
This is a hands-on role at the intersection of finance and applied AI. You'll work directly with the Group Finance team to turn messy, multi-jurisdiction reporting into structured, reliable analysis — and help shape how a PE-backed group adopts AI responsibly in a controlled finance environment.
What you'll do
- Help structure and prepare financial reporting inputs (management accounts, consolidations, board packs, entity-level P&Ls and balance sheets) so they can be analysed consistently by Claude.
- Design, test and refine prompts and workflows for tasks such as variance analysis, management commentary drafting, KPI extraction, anomaly and outlier detection, and inter-period / inter-entity comparison.
- Build lightweight tooling (e.g. Excel-based trackers, templates, or simple scripts) to feed data into and capture outputs from the AI workflows.
- Document a library of reusable, validated prompts and "recipes" the wider finance team can rely on.
- Stress-test outputs for accuracy — cross-checking AI-generated analysis against source figures and flagging where the model is unreliable.
- Help define guardrails: what the AI should and shouldn't be used for, what stays human-reviewed, and how confidential data is handled.
- Support ad-hoc analysis and reporting projects for the Group Finance team.
What you'll learn
- How a PE-backed, multi-jurisdiction finance function actually operates — consolidation, board reporting, KPIs and controls.
- Practical, applied use of large language models in a real finance setting, including prompt design and evaluation.
- How to balance AI productivity gains against accuracy, governance and data-confidentiality requirements.
- Direct exposure to senior finance leadership and the Group's reporting cycle.
What we're looking for
Essential
- Working towards or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data/Business Analytics or a related field.
- Strong grasp of core financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and comfort reading management accounts.
- Confident with Excel and structured data; meticulous about accuracy and detail.
- Genuine curiosity about AI / generative AI and a willingness to experiment, iterate and learn quickly.
- Clear written English and the ability to explain analysis simply.
- A responsible, security-minded approach to confidential financial data.
Nice to have
- Exposure to prompt engineering or hands-on use of tools like Claude or other LLMs.
- Basic Python or scripting ability (e.g. for data cleaning or simple automation).
- Familiarity with consolidation, multi-entity or multi-currency reporting.
- Interest in professional services, fund administration or PE-backed business models.
How we work with AI
AI augments the finance team; it does not replace professional judgement. All AI-assisted analysis is treated as a draft to be reviewed and validated by a qualified team member before it informs any decision or external output. You'll help us use these tools in a way that is accurate, auditable and consistent with the Group's data-confidentiality and control standards.
