OVERVIEW
The Senior / L3 Network Engineer is a subject matter expert responsible for the high-level design, provisioning, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure across multi-client environments. This role moves away from traditional manual administration, championing a modern, code-centric approach to network operations. As an L3 engineer, you will serve as the ultimate escalation point for complex network incidents , architect scalable network fabrics , and build continuous integration pipelines to automate network infrastructure deployment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Network Infrastructure & Automation (IaC)
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate the provisioning, configuration, testing, and lifecycle management of core network hardware and virtual appliances—including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- CI/CD Deployment Pipelines: Develop, maintain, and optimize robust CI/CD pipelines engineered explicitly for deploying network configurations and operational code safely into production.
- Source of Truth & Version Control: Maintain and govern centralized Git repositories for all automated scripts, configurations, and network code, ensuring a secure audit trail.
- Network Architecture: Partner closely with traditional network engineering and software development teams to design highly scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant network topologies.
2. Advanced L3 Network Operations & Support
- L3 Escalation Support: Act as the highest tier of internal technical escalation, diagnosing and resolving complex, multi-domain network performance issues and outages.
- Load Balancing & Traffic Management: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise load balancers (such as F5 LTM) to ensure optimized traffic distribution and maximum uptime.
- Proactive Performance Monitoring: Implement and tune advanced network monitoring and logging platforms to gain deep visibility into network health and preemptive fault discovery.
- Trend Analysis & Ticket Reduction: Conduct thorough trend analyses on recurring infrastructure alerts to engineer permanent automation fixes, systematically driving down manual ticket volume.
3. Change Governance & Operational Leadership
- High-Risk Maintenance: Plan, document, and execute critical network maintenance, firmware upgrades, patching windows, and disaster recovery simulation testing.
- Risk Mitigation: Author comprehensive change management records, identifying structural risks and establishing bulletproof rollback and mitigation strategies.
- Team Upskilling: Actively mentor and provide technical triage documentation and guidance to L1 and L2 engineers to improve initial line troubleshooting accuracy.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Network Engineering.
- Proven track record operating in an L2/L3 infrastructure capacity, ideally within a Managed Services or large scale enterprise environment.
- Open to Singaporeans only (requires government-level security clearance clearance/handling sensitive data).
Technical Certifications (Highly Valued - Good to Have)
- Core Networking: CCNP (Enterprise, Routing & Switching) or equivalent professional certification is highly preferred; CCNA is a mandatory technical requirement.
- Firewalls & Security Edge: CCNP Security, PCNSE (Palo Alto), or advanced certifications in Fortinet (FortiGate/FortiManager) or Check Point architectures.
Tooling & Ecosystem Expertise
- Network Automation & IaC: Ansible (for network configuration management) and Terraform (Infrastructure as Code).
- Network Source of Truth: Experience with NetBox or equivalent IPAM tools.
- Version Control & Pipelines: Extensive hands-on usage of Git, GitHub, or GitLab CI/CD systems.
- Monitoring Platforms: Experience utilizing open-source or enterprise monitoring toolsets like Prometheus and Grafana.
- Core Network Services: Solid understanding of enterprise core services including F5 LTM/WAF, Cisco ISE AAA services, NTP, and Point-to-Point/Internet routing architectures.
Core Behavioral Attributes
- Resilience: Highly capable of remaining focused, analytical, and structured when troubleshooting high-pressure network outages.
- Active Listening: Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to actively listen, probe for contextual information, and accurately capture client requirements.
- Adaptability: Forward-thinking professional eager to replace legacy manual workflows with an automation-first philosophy.
