IT Network Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Design, secure approval for, and give operational effect to systems and procedures that ensure the effective connectivity for the respective locations on the Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs) that service the business needs of the organization.
  • Monitor on-going operations and support of the Network Infrastructure for Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Network Operating Systems, Internet services, MPLS, etc.
  • Design and implement Internet connectivity solutions that ensure external interfaces provide integrity and security against unauthorized entry to internal systems.
  • Assesses plans and designs the specifications and detailed requirements for new LAN/WAN systems or for upgrades of existing LAN/WAN systems and Network Infrastructure. Determines overall hardware, Network Operating systems and software requirements for systems and ensures necessary actions have been taken.
  • Plans, establishes, and maintains all necessary network operation and administration policies, procedures and standards that ensure the safety and security of network systems, services and all related equipment.
  • Ensures all network systems documentation is available and updated to always include all modifications/upgrades etc..
  • Reviews Vendor’s submitted documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems.
  • Sets up access and operational procedures for the organization’s current domains and plans and monitors the activities of the administrator.
  • Review network performance continuously to identify opportunities for enhancements and upgrades that stretch and exploit the full potential of the organization’s existing network technological capability.
  • Monitor the continuing performance of the hardware modules to ensure optimum operating status and to troubleshoot problems.
  • Keeps informed of technological advances and industry best practices to assess their possible adaptation for use in increasing the Company’s technological superiority
  • Trouble shooting and support of IT Network Related problems.
  • Support operations to ensure all decisions, contacts and agreements executed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop (together with IT Operation Manager, IT Project Manager, and the IT Director a comprehensive controls compliance program.

Qualifications

Qualifications -

  • Degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • Network Engineer related professional courses. CISCO, HP, Juniper. Etc.
  • Microsoft server administration - 2008 / 2012, AD, DNS, DHCP, DFS, Power shell scripting
  • Required: Microsoft: MCITP, MCSE, CISCO or VMWare

Required Skills And Competencies -

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language
  • Strong analytical and computer skills
  • Ability to effectively manage contract resources, External Service Provider(s), Process Owner and User relationships
  • Ability to adapt to time pressures
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework
  • Experienced with Risk Assessment and Mitigation concepts and principles
  • 7 years of experience working with Networks, Email, Infrastructure, etc. preferably with Microsoft / Cisco / HP Servers and Storage Area Network etc. equipment
  • Knowledge and experience with Network management Tools & Utilities preferred Cisco CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, MCSA Messaging or equivalent certification.
  • Good experience with Microsoft BackOffice server products (Windows Server 2003
  • / 2008, Exchange 2007 / 2010, AD, DNS, ISA, IIS, DHCP)
  • Knowledge of Hardware Servers and Storage Area Networks, preferred HP products or equivalent systems.
  • Working knowledge of standard industry commercial and charter scenarios
  • Working knowledge of controls concepts and principles
  • Must be a good team player.
