About the Role:
The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing enterprise cloud infrastructure platforms. This role requires deep expertise in OpenStack, Kubernetes, Linux administration, storage systems, networking, automation, and cloud architecture. The successful candidate will lead cloud infrastructure initiatives, drive automation and DevOps practices, and ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of mission-critical environments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, architect, and modernize scalable, secure, highly available cloud infrastructure (capacity planning, performance, DR)
- Deploy, administer, and troubleshoot OpenStack environments (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone, Heat, Horizon, Swift).
- Design, deploy, and manage production Kubernetes clusters and container orchestration for cloud-native/microservices apps.
- Administer enterprise Linux (RHEL, Rocky, CentOS, Ubuntu): hardening, patching, tuning, lifecycle management.
- Design and manage enterprise storage (SAN, NAS, Ceph, Fibre Channel, iSCSI) provisioning, backup, replication, DR.
- Design and support enterprise networking: routing, switching, VLANs/VXLANs, load balancers, firewalls, SDN.
- Build CI/CD pipelines and automation (GitLab CI/CD, Ansible, Python, Bash, IaC) to drive DevOps best practices.
- Manage enterprise server hardware (HPE, Cisco UCS, Dell EMC) and collaborate across infrastructure, network, storage, and app teams.
- Develop cloud architecture standards, best practices, and operational frameworks; lead cloud transformation and migration initiatives; and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance cloud platform capabilities.
- Perform platform upgrades, health checks, monitoring integration, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management to ensure reliability, security, performance, and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or systems engineering, including 3+ years managing OpenStack 17 or later.
- Strong expertise in cloud architecture, solution design, infrastructure planning, and cloud migration/modernization projects.
- Advanced Linux administration, troubleshooting, and scripting/automation using Python, Bash, or similar tools.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerized environments, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise storage, networking (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, load balancing), and enterprise hardware (HPE, Cisco UCS).
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Zabbix; knowledge of Ceph, OpenShift, Rancher, or VMware is an advantage.
- Relevant certifications such as OpenStack, Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD), Red Hat (RHCSA/RHCE), or cloud certifications (OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP) are preferred.
- Strong leadership, technical mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
