Lifting Engineer / Rigging Engineer (LEEA Appointed Person)

Role Description The Lifting Engineer / Rigging Engineer (LEEA Appointed Person) is a full-time, on-site role based in Sohar. This role is responsible for planning, supervising, and approving lifting operations, ensuring they comply with relevant standards, client procedures, and regulatory requirements. Daily tasks include preparing lift plans, conducting risk assessments, selecting appropriate lifting equipment, and coordinating with site teams to execute safe lifting and rigging activities. The role involves inspecting and verifying lifting gear, documenting inspections, and maintaining records to support compliance and certification processes. The Lifting Engineer / Rigging Engineer also provides technical guidance, participates in incident investigations, and supports training and awareness initiatives related to lifting and rigging safety.
Qualifications
- Strong technical competence in lifting engineering and rigging operations, including planning and supervising complex lifts.
Relevant professional qualification or certification as a LEEA Appointed Person (Must)
- Knowledge of relevant international and local lifting standards, regulations, and best practices (e.g., LEEA guidelines, HSE requirements).
- Ability to develop detailed lift plans, conduct risk assessments, and implement control measures for routine and non-routine lifts.
- Effective communication and coordination skills for working with site supervisors, crane operators, riggers, and client representatives.
- Competence in using engineering drawings, load charts, and basic calculations to determine lifting configurations and capacities.
- Proven commitment to safety culture, hazard identification, and incident reporting in industrial or construction environments.
- Previous experience in heavy industry, construction, ports, or similar sectors where lifting and rigging activities are critical.
- Ability to work on-site in Sohar, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing project priorities and conditions.
