Head of Building Construction

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading construction contractor for an experienced Building Unit Head to lead the successful delivery of major building construction projects across Oman.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially focused construction professional with a proven track record of delivering large-scale building projects across the GCC. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading multiple projects from pre-construction through to handover, ensuring exceptional performance across safety, quality, programme, commercial, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Building Division, overseeing the successful delivery of multiple large-scale building construction projects.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership across all stages of the project lifecycle.
• Manage Project Managers, Construction Managers, and site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Oversee project planning, resource allocation, budgets, forecasting, and commercial performance.
• Drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and best practice across the division.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, local regulations, company policies, and HSE requirements.
• Identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
• Monitor financial performance, project profitability, and overall business objectives.
• Mentor and develop project teams, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Prepare and present operational and commercial reports to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years' experience delivering major building construction projects.
• Previous experience in a senior leadership role such as Building Unit Head, Operations Manager, Associate Director – Construction
• Proven track record of successfully managing multiple large-scale building construction projects simultaneously.
• Previous GCC building construction experience is essential.
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, with experience managing project budgets, forecasting, and financial performance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project planning, risk management, and HSE best practices.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and consistently deliver successful project outcomes.
