Software Engineer

Hey, I’m Kaveh, head of engineering here at Updoc.

I’ve been building tech for over a decade, and let me tell you there’s nothing quite like working on something that genuinely changes lives. At Updoc, we’re shaping the future of healthcare and we’re looking for a senior software engineer to join our team and help us build technology that connects patients, doctors, medical professionals, and pharmacies across the country.

Now, this isn’t your average healthcare gig. We’re scrappy, curious, and unapologetically nerdy. Our tech team comes from some of the best global tech companies think Canva, Uber, Amazon but we don’t have room for egos here. We thrive on collaboration, coffee-fueled debates about system architecture, and the occasional (okay, frequent) meme battle in Slack.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Take ambiguous problems and turn them into simple, scalable systems
• Own technical decisions from architecture through production
• Talk directly with product managers, doctors and operations to deeply understand problems.
• Build reliable backend systems, APIs, automations and internal tooling
• Improve engineering standards rather than simply writing features
• Leave every part of the codebase better than you found it

About You

• You'll thrive here if someone can say, "Doctors are wasting two hours every day on this process," and your instinct is to investigate, identify the root cause and build the right solution not wait for detailed requirements.
• You enjoy working across a broad range of engineering problems from high-volume patient workflows and distributed systems to payments, APIs, automations and internal tooling.
• You love solving puzzles. You see a gnarly bug or a tricky edge case, and your first thought is, “Challenge accepted.”
• We expect engineers to use AI every day to accelerate development, research, debugging and prototyping but never as a substitute for engineering judgment.
• You care about maintainability and pragmatism. You know when to move quickly and when investing in architecture pays dividends.
• You’re curious AF. Always exploring new tools and tech? Perfect.
• Bonus points if you’ve worked in startups, healthcare, or built systems that have to work at scale (like, millions-of-users scale).
