Tradition is currently seeking to appoint a Data Engineer to be based in our Lausanne office.
Main responsibilities within the Data Engineer position include:
Data Modelling & Business Analysis
- Translate business concepts into scalable, well-structured transformation pipelines and analytical models.
- Design and build trusted, reusable, and well-documented data products that are discoverable, reliable, and support multiple use cases.
- Data product mindset: ability to think in terms of reusable, well-defined, consumer-focused datasets.
- Drive data quality, consistency, and modelling best practices.
Monitoring & Platform Reliability
- Own and continuously improve the monitoring and observability ecosystem.
- Proactively identify issues, performance bottlenecks, and data quality concerns.
- Develop alerts, dashboards, and operational procedures that enable rapid issue detection and resolution.
Application Support & Incident Management
- Investigate and resolve production incidents across the data platform.
- Support a growing user base by responding to operational and business requests.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions.
- Help maintain the reliability and availability of critical data services
Key skills and experience required in this role:
- 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience supporting production systems and monitoring data pipelines or applications, as well as building and maintaining analytical data models.
- Strong experience with SQL, Python, dbt, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenSearch or similar logging tools, Prometheus and Grafana (or equivalent observability tools), and cloud-native data platforms and modern data architectures.
- Ability to translate complex business needs into data models and products, with a strong focus on business value; knowledge of dimensional modeling and analytics engineering is a plus.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Excellent English communication skills; proactive, collaborative, and self-driven with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
