About Fusion Markets
Fusion opened its doors to clients all around the world in mid-2019. Last year, we grew triple-digits across both revenue and clients, and we're on pace to outdo that again in 2026, outpacing competitors who are decades older than us. We're a talented team delivering trading products focused on the lowest possible costs for global clients looking to trade Forex, Cryptos, Stocks, Commodities and more. Our clients now trade close to $500 billion every month on our platforms worldwide.
We have big dreams, know-how, and a high bar for the talent we want on the bus* with us to get there. Finance can be serious, but we aren't afraid to laugh along the way (*note: sorry, we don't actually have our own bus). You'll find us in a fancy building in South Yarra (Goldfields House), complete with 6-star amenities: two commercial-grade coffee machines, sparkling water taps, an infrared sauna, pool table and more. We're also mid-renovation to double our space as the team keeps growing.
Fusion Markets is a place that cares deeply about our clients' trading experience and how we can improve it, but even more about the people at Fusion who help make it all happen.
The Team You’ll Join
You’ll join our newly forming in-house Engineering Team in Melbourne, reporting to the Head of Engineering. You’ll work closely with Product, our offshore engineering squads, DevOps, Operations, Compliance and Support to help modernise, improve and scale the Fusion Hub, which includes our user-facing client portal and our internal CRM. You’ll be hands-on, close to the platform, close to the business, and close to the decisions.
What You Will Own
- Ownership of the Fusion Hub: Work across our Client Hub and Admin Hub, built with React, Node.js/Express and MongoDB, hosted on AWS.
- Ship full stack features: Design, build and release features end-to-end across the frontend, backend and the integrations that sit behind them.
- The platform: Help move the Hub further into TypeScript, improve frontend tooling, and support the migration of legacy testing into a more modern Playwright/TypeScript approach.
- Engineering standards: Set the bar through strong code review, clear documentation, good technical decisions and practical engineering habits.
- Work with Product from the start: Help shape problems, challenge scope, identify technical risk early, and make sure we are building things that are actually worth building.
- Improve reliability: Diagnose production issues, improve observability, support incident response, and help reduce customer-impacting defects.
- Bring knowledge in-house: Capture key platform knowledge currently held across offshore teams and vendors, and turn it into clear documentation, architecture diagrams and onboarding material.
What Makes You Great In This Role
- Strong Full Stack Fundamentals: React, Node.js, Express, JavaScript and TypeScript are familiar territory for you.
- Comfortable in Brownfield Environments: You can work in a large, long-lived codebase that supports live customers and improve it pragmatically without trying to rebuild everything at once.
- Owner Mindset: You care about outcomes, not just assigned tickets, and you lean in when something needs fixing, clarifying or improving.
- Comfortable with Ambiguity: You can work with Product and stakeholders to shape the right solution, even when every requirement is not perfectly defined upfront.
- Quality and Pace: You know how to balance speed, quality and risk, including when “good enough” is right and when stronger foundations are needed.
- Curious AI-Assisted Development: You’re interested in using modern tools thoughtfully to help engineering teams work better.
What You’ll Bring
- Full Stack Experience: 5+ years of full stack software engineering experience, though we’ll consider strong candidates with less if the experience and attitude are clear.
- Frontend & Backend Capability: Hands-on experience with React, including state management and modern application patterns + experience with Node.js and Express, building APIs and backend services.
- API and Integration Experience: Experience designing, consuming and maintaining REST APIs, including integrations with third-party providers.
- Bonus points for: Experience in fintech or regulated environments, modern testing tools, JavaScript/TypeScript modernisation, MongoDB or key platform integrations, strong SPA UX sensibility, and working with offshore teams.
Life at Fusion Markets
- Work from Anywhere Weeks: 2 weeks each year to work from anywhere in the world.
- Hybrid Rhythm: work from home one day a week, except Mon & Fri — those are in-office.
- Leave that Stacks: an extra day of annual leave for every year you’re with us.
Growth and Support
- $1,000 L&D Budget each year for courses, programs, or tools you choose.
- 3 Covered Psychology Sessions per year, because mental health matters.
- Unlimited Books via our office library. If you want it, we’ll get it.
Culture and Office
- Plenty of Connection: quarterly staff events and volunteer days, morning teas, and fortnightly Friday drinks.
- Serious Work, Not-So-Serious People: we care about outcomes and still make room to smile.
- Real Ownership: you’ll be joining early enough to shape how our in-house engineering team works, but with a real platform, real customers and real problems to solve from day one.
