Who We Are…

ELMO is The Complete AI Workforce Platform built for Australia’s mid-market organisations and trusted by 1.2 million employees.

Founded in 2002, ELMO is the trusted HR software provider to thousands of organisations across Australia, New Zealand and the UK. We’re on a mission to release HR’s full potential, through software automation, analytics, and world-class customer support. Through powerful technology, automation, data and analytics, ELMO Software empowers HR professionals to play an integral role in company decision making.

About the Opportunity

Rotageek, an ELMO Software company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (6-months contract role) to join a newly created team in Sydney localising an established AI-driven rostering and scheduling platform.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll spend most of your time designing, building and shipping high-quality software. You’ll work closely with product, design and engineering peers to localise an established platform, contribute to technical direction and help embed strong engineering practices within a brand-new team. This is also an AI-native team: agentic coding tools such as Claude Code are central to how we design, build and ship, and you’ll be expected to use them effectively to move faster without compromising quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, review and ship production software as part of the localisation of the rostering and scheduling platform for the Australian market.
  • Work in an AI-native engineering environment, using AI tools and agents to accelerate delivery while validating outputs before deployment.
  • Contribute to system design decisions for backend services, APIs and supporting data models.
  • Work closely with product, design and engineering peers to deliver reliable software.
  • Investigate and resolve complex issues across the stack.
  • Mentor other engineers through collaboration, code reviews and knowledge sharing.
  • Help establish strong engineering practices for the new Sydney team in partnership with the UK team.

Technical skills:

  • Strong current expertise in C# and ASP.NET across .NET Framework and modern .NET.
  • Proven backend engineering capability covering services, APIs and data modelling.
  • Solid understanding of backend architecture, databases, ORM and service-oriented or microservices patterns.
  • Working knowledge of Azure and CI/CD tooling such as TeamCity, Octopus Deploy or GitHub Actions.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritisation and communication skills in fast-moving environments.
  • Nice to have:
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Codex.
  • Familiarity with GraphQL.
  • Experience building React and TypeScript web applications.
