Role Overview

The Payroll Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of end-to-end payroll while maintaining employee payroll records and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, awards, and organisational policies. You will also provide payroll support to employees and contribute to continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end fortnightly payroll accurately and on time.
  • Maintain payroll records, employee data, and salary variations.
  • Process commencements, terminations, leave, allowances, and payroll adjustments.
  • Reconcile payroll and prepare reports for finance and management.
  • Respond to payroll and employee enquiries professionally and efficiently.
  • Interpret relevant awards, legislation, and payroll policies.
  • Support month-end, end-of-financial-year, superannuation, and salary packaging processes.
  • Assist with payroll system maintenance, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and payroll documentation.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • CHRIS21 experience
  • Demonstrated experience in an end-to-end payroll position.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, awards, and payroll processes.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience using payroll or Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment is highly regarded.
