Company Description

Using artificial intelligence and machine vision, we provide crews on boats and ships with the most accurate digital understanding of a vessel ‘s near-field surface surroundings. We make marine mobility safer and more convenient, providing a better mobility experience at sea. We are a multi-national team based in Austria, France, Portugal and the US. We offer a fast and agile workplace for experts from a variety of disciplines. We share a common culture shaped by ambition, autonomy, openness, honesty, and respect. As a fast-growing team of ~60 colleagues, we are large enough to create impact. We are also small enough that each team member has an influence on the way we work. For one of our locations in Vienna or Linz we are looking for a Software Engineer (m/w/d).

The Role

Our systems run on embedded NVIDIA Jetson hardware on vessels worldwide, processing live camera feeds through custom-trained vision models to deliver the detections crews rely on. You'll work at the core of that pipeline, where performance, reliability, and correctness matter most. Our codebase is fast-moving and imperfect. We're committed to improving it and want someone who can do that without stopping the ship.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop our C++/Python processing pipeline within real memory, compute, and latency constraints.
  • Profile and optimize for real-time performance: latency, throughput, memory.
  • Write clean, well-tested code, contributing to unit, integration, and end-to-end coverage.
  • Own technical planning and delivery for multi-sprint initiatives: risk, dependencies, progress.
  • Collaborate across hardware, product, and AI colleagues, bringing a system-oriented view to cross-functional decisions.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years building production software in an agile environment.
  • Strong C++ and/or Python, with solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with GStreamer and video pipelines.
  • Degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • A system-oriented problem solver, comfortable working across domains and tech stacks.
  • Fluent English; other languages a plus.

Nice to Have:

  • NVIDIA DeepStream, Jetson, JetPack; OpenCV; CUDA/TensorRT; multi-object tracking; on-device or hardware-in-the-loop testing; machine learning background.

You'll Fit Well If You...

  • Are genuinely curious, form opinions, and back them with evidence.
  • Speak up when something's broken, with a constructive take you can defend.
  • Ship pragmatically, know when "good enough" beats "perfect," and follow through.
  • Dig until you find the real cause of a problem, not just a patch for the symptom.
  • Push past prompting AI tools: you extend and shape your own workflows around AI tools and know precisely where to trust them and where not to.

What we offer

  • Highly motivated, skilled, cooperative interdisciplinary and international team.
  • Opportunity to travel to our other offices incl. testing new developments on the company boat in Portugal.
  • Flexible policy for working time and occasionally home office.
  • Company-organized team building events including workshops, remote working in Europe, sailing trips and more.
  • Subsidies for motorboat/sailing license & Klimaticket.
  • Minimum salary for this job is EUR 60.000,00 gross per year - according to your experience and education we are willing to pay more.

Ready for the Challenge?

We do look forward to receiving your complete application including earliest starting date. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome diversity. We encourage everyone to apply and will give everyone equal consideration. If you should have any questions, we are happy to answer them by email: [email protected]
