Data Scientist/MLOps
About Exsolvæ
Exsolvæ is a Brussels-based Data & AI consultancy. Our activity is structured around three main areas: Data Foundations, Data Science & AI, and BI & Analytics.
We build data systems that run in production for Belgian enterprises across finance, pharma, insurance, retail and energy.
We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist/MLOps Engineer to join Exsolvæ and work on projects centered on forecasting, pricing analytics and GenAI-driven use cases.
What we look for?
- Analytical depth: proven experience designing and validating machine learning models, from proof-of-concept through production rollout.
- An engineering mindset: comfortable owning the reliability, versioning and deployment of what you build, not just the modelling.
- Clear communication: ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
The Role
You will work at the intersection of data science and engineering, driving the development and operationalisation of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions. This position is weighted more heavily toward implementation and MLOps than pure proof-of-concept work: you'll find the right balance between data science and data engineering and collaborate closely with business stakeholders and technical teams in an Agile setting.
What will you do?
MLOps & Engineering
- Design, develop and maintain production-ready data and ML pipelines using PySpark on Databricks.
- Manage experiment tracking, model versioning, and lifecycle management using MLflow.
- Ensure code quality, reproducibility, and maintainability through Git-based version control and software engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy and scale models from proof-of-concept to production.
Data Science & Analytics
- Conduct advanced data analytics, including causal inference, ad hoc analyses and exploratory data work to generate business insights.
- Build and validate tabular machine learning models (classification, regression, forecasting) to support business decision-making.
- Develop forecasting models and impact models to support pricing and commercial strategies.
- Structure and execute data preparation and feature engineering workflows to support model experimentation and production rollouts.
- Contribute to GenAI and LLM-based initiatives where relevant, including structured data extraction, multimodal pipelines and computer vision use cases.
Stakeholder Communication
- Translate complex analytical results into clear, concise outputs for business stakeholders.
- Define requirements and validate proof-of-concepts together with business and technical partners prior to production rollout.
- Present findings and recommendations in a structured, actionable manner.
The technical stack
- Data processing & ML: PySpark, Databricks.
- Experiment tracking & lifecycle: MLflow.
- Cloud: Azure.
- Version control: Git.
- Languages: Python (primary).
The Mindset we are looking for
- You take end-to-end ownership, from model design to production deployment.
- You adapt your communication to your audience, technical or business.
- You sit with the business as comfortably as you sit with the data.
- You stay rigorous: you validate before you ship.
- You flag problems early rather than silently absorbing them.
Profile & Experience
- Proven experience in a senior Data Scientist or MLOps role in a corporate environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with PySpark and Databricks for data processing and ML workflows.
- Solid knowledge of machine learning: tabular models, forecasting, experimentation frameworks, etc.
- Experience with advanced analytics techniques, including causal inference and statistical analysis.
- Production-ready coding mindset: clean, versioned, and maintainable code (Git).
- Experience working on Azure cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum ways of working.
Languages
- Professional proficiency in English is required, along with fluency in at least Dutch or French.
What makes you stand out?
- Knowledge of GenAI, LLMs or multimodal AI solutions.
- Experience with computer vision use cases.
- Demonstrated ability to manage senior business stakeholders independently.
- A degree in data, engineering, mathematics or a related field.
What Exsolvæ Offer
- Transparent compensation, discussed from the first interview, plus our Solver Incentive Program.
- Meaningful, high-impact data projects with real business stakes.
- Engagements we can deliver and real growth paths within them.
- A €2,000 annual Knowledge & Networking budget for certifications and conferences.
- A modern data workspace and current tooling from day one.
- A community of data professionals to learn from and grow with.
