Senior Data Scientist (Generative AI)

Location: Brussels, Belgium 50% on site, 50% Remote

Freelance Contract: ASAP Start -31 December 2026

Fluent in either Dutch or French.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist with a strong background in Machine Learning and a proven track record of developing Generative AI solutions. This role offers the opportunity to design, build and deploy innovative AI applications, working with modern technologies across the full machine learning lifecycle.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with excellent analytical and communication skills and will be comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy AI and machine learning applications.
• Apply a range of analytical techniques, including predictive modelling and Generative AI, to solve complex business problems.
• Develop solutions using technologies such as: Prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Fine-tuning large language models, Agentic AI applications, Speech-to-text technologies, Image generation and interpretation, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Classical machine learning and statistical modelling
• Build production-ready AI solutions using Python and modern AI development frameworks.
• Work with large and complex datasets to generate valuable insights.
• Present technical findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality AI solutions and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years' professional experience in Data Science, Machine Learning or Analytics.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Experience with deep learning techniques and pre-trained models.
• Proven experience developing and delivering Generative AI applications.
• Solid understanding of machine learning principles and model development.
• Experience deploying AI solutions into production environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• The ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
• Commitment, resilience and a results-driven attitude.
• Experience with Domino Data Lab Desirable
• Proficiency with Git and version control best practices desirable
• Experience with Generative AI frameworks and technologies desirable

Language Requirements

• Fluent in English.
• Fluent in either Dutch or French.
