Data Analyst, Controlling

Stora Enso
Finland · Full-time · Not Applicable

We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our team in Packaging Solutions’ BU Northern Europe Controlling team. This role is part of our ambition to build a modern, AI-enabled analytics capability where data analysts act as proactive partners in business decision-making.

Hybrid role, with location in Jönköping, Stockholm, Lahti, Helsinki, or Riga.

Your role

As a Data Analyst, you focus on turning data into profitability-improving actions. You work closely with controllers and business stakeholders to analyze performance, identify improvement opportunities, and support decisions related to pricing, cost optimization, and resource allocation.

This is not a back-office reporting role. You are expected to actively engage with stakeholders, ask the right questions, and continuously improve how data and analysis are used to support profitable business outcomes.

The Data Analyst reports to the Head of Controlling, BU Northern Europe, Packaging Solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyst is expected to design structured datasets and models together with IT, not just use them
  • Analyze financial and business data to identify trends, drivers, and deviations
  • Explore and apply AI and advanced analytics tools to improve efficiency, quality, and insight
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and “single source of truth” across reports and forward looking analyses
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve reports and dashboards for decision-making
  • Combine and structure data from multiple systems and sources
  • Collaborate closely with controllers and business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into meaningful analysis
  • Support controllers with deeper analysis, scenario modelling, and ad hoc business questions
  • Communicate insights clearly and confidently to non-financial stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to automate recurring analyses and reporting

What You Bring

  • Relevant academic background (e.g. finance, economics, data, engineering, or similar)
  • Initial experience and/or strong interest in data analysis, reporting, or finance, with practical experience or curiosity towards modern AI tools
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g. Power BI), Excel, and data handling
  • Competence in AI-assisted analytics and vibe coding, enabling fast experimentation, insight generation, and data tool development, with a strong foundation in SQL and Python
  • Ability to interact confidently with controllers and business stakeholders, and explain data-driven insights in a clear and structured way
  • Capability and proof of use-cases with AI, automation, and new analytical tools
  • Analytical mindset with a willingness to challenge numbers and ask “why”
  • Structured, proactive, and collaborative way of working
  • Fluency in English

What We Offer

You will contribute to a more sustainable world, as we believe that anything made from fossil-based materials today can be made from a tree tomorrow. Sustainability and innovation are at the core of our strategy. To keep you going safely, we support your physical and mental wellbeing.

How can you apply for this role?

You can only submit your application via our recruitment tool. We hope to hear from you as soon as possible, but no later than 17 of August, 2026 and please send your application in English. Depending on the role, we might invite you to a video interview and/or aptitude tests.

If you have questions about the position, please contact the hiring manager Sami Muhonen, [email protected] and questions about the recruitment process can be directed to our Talent Acquisition Partner Veera Kaislasalo at [email protected].
