Who We Are:
Our client is a startup food discovery app taking Dublin and beyond by storm. Think TikTok meets Google Maps, built purely for finding the best restaurants. We already have 10k+ users, we’re growing fast, and we are now building the core engineering team that will take this product from Dublin to the world.
As an early-stage startup, they move fast, skip the bureaucracy, and focus entirely on building a product people love. We are based in Tallaght and you will be required to work from the office.
Why This Role is Different:
If you’re a junior-to-mid-level engineer, you’ve probably seen job posts where you're just a cog in a machine, writing minor features or stuck in endless meetings. Not here. This is a career-defining role. You will work directly alongside the founders, owning major parts of a rapidly scaling consumer app. You won't just be maintaining code; you will be building the core infrastructure of a platform aiming for millions of users. If you are ambitious, eager to learn at 10x speed, and want to see your code used by thousands of people every single day, this is your launchpad.
What You’ll Do (The Core Challenges):
You’ll be working across the full stack—frontend, backend, and infrastructure. Because we are a small team, what you build goes straight to users. You will own real, complex problems:
- The Feed & Discovery: Optimizing our short-form video delivery, feed ranking logic, and mapping features.
- Search & AI: Scaling our recommendation engine and improving search relevance so foodies find exactly what they want.
- Creator Ecosystem: Building tools for food creators and rolling out creator monetization features.
- Infrastructure: Ensuring our backend can support explosive user growth with low latency.
Our Stack:
We look for adaptability over a perfect checklist, but here is what we use today:
- Mobile: Swift / iOS
- Backend: Node.js
- Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS
- (Comfort across both mobile and backend matters more to us than having perfect mastery of both on day one.)
Who You Are:
- You’ve Shipped Things: You have actual experience putting software into production. We value engineers who build, break, fix, and ship over those who just talk about it.
- High Energy & Growth Mindset: You are intensely curious, a fast learner, and eager to absorb knowledge. You don't wait for a perfect specification to start building.
- Product-Minded: You care about the user experience. You understand that code is just a tool to solve a real human problem, and you care about the "last 10%" of polish.
- Bonus Points: If you have shipped a consumer-facing app before (even a side project!), you get fast-tracked. If not, show us a project, a repository, or a hard problem you solved that makes us stop scrolling.
What’s In It For You?
- Competitive salary
- Exponential Learning Curve: You will learn more in 6 months here than in 2 years at a massive corporate company.
- Real Ownership & Autonomy: You will treat the product like it’s yours; because it will be.
- Equity/Stock Options: We want you to share in the upside of the company we are building together.
- High-Energy Culture: A collaborative, hard-working, and highly ambitious environment based in Tallaght, Dublin.
How to Apply:
Skip the generic cover letter. Tell us about something you’ve built that you’re proud of. Send us a GitHub link, an App Store link, or just a breakdown of a tough technical problem you solved. Let's build the future of food discovery together.
