Lead Java Developer

Contract - Initial 6 Months

Hybrid, Dublin

My client, a multinational professional services company is on the lookout for a Lead Java Developer on an initial 6 month contract with view for extension.

The Job:

• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Lead a development team, guide intermediate-level members, and mentor/coach junior resources while managing their day-to-day tasks and outlining project resource requirements.
• Development & Quality Assurance: Code new developments and enhancements following strict organizational standards. Quality assure and peer-review code, and implement integration, system, and automation testing.
• Architecture & Design: Analyze and provide technical designs aligned with business requirements. Create functional design specifications, user stories, and produce high-level/detailed estimates for governance gateways.
• Business Analysis & Communication: Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating complex business requirements into technical solutions and synthesis complex information for various audiences.
• Project & Release Management: Plan and coordinate system tests and live releases. Support project managers, track progress against plans, provide input to status reports, and identify/manage project and technical risks.
• Incident Management & Support: Investigate, prioritize, and monitor live incidents across systems. Perform root cause analysis to propose permanent fixes or workarounds, organize bug tracking, and collaborate with Continuous Service Improvement teams to implement fixes.

Have You:

• Core Technical Expertise: Strong professional experience working with Java, Salt, Unit/ Integration Test and Relational Databases (Ingres / VectorWise).
• Secondary & Desirable Tech Skills: Experience or familiarity with Angular, UNIX, SQL, Spring, Web Services, XML, Mule, ETL technologies, OpenROAD, and Unit/integration testing.
• Data Handling: Experience working with relational databases and NoSQL frameworks (e.g., Hadoop). Ability to parse and manipulate structured data formats like JSON, XML, and text files.
• BA & Domain Knowledge: Strong requirements gathering and business analysis skills. A sound grasp of the fundamentals of taxation and/or customs (from registration through to returns filing and payment options).
• Methodologies & Standards: Deep understanding of systems architecture, the application development lifecycle, and various project delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid). Experience working in standards-driven environments.
• Soft Skills & Team Management: Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to manage and maximize the performance of large teams in a hybrid working environment.
