Are you a Senior Software Engineer who loves the systems, pipelines, and architecture side of engineering? If you enjoy the challenge of strictly managing environments in a regulated sector and want a role focused on platform modernization rather than just churning out daily feature code - look no further!

Please note: This is a Senior Software Engineer contract role on a daily rate contract basis in Dublin, but it is not a pure coding position. You'll be using your software background to architect, automate, and safeguard deployment environments across a complex cross-platform ecosystem.

Tech Stack Flexibility

Our client runs a mixed ecosystem of Java/Spring/Linux and .NET/Windows. You do not need to be an expert in both stacks. If you have deep expertise in Java/Spring/Linux and a solid familiarity with .NET/Windows (or vice versa), your core understanding of deployment logic, environments, and pipelines is what will be of particular relevance

The Context & Projects Ahead

Software is strictly tested before being put into production. You will be stepping in to take engineering ownership of two critical parallel initiatives:

• Windows Server & Pipeline Upgrades: The team is currently upgrading Windows servers and putting a robust build/deploy pipeline in place using Jenkins, Ansible, and Ansible Tower to deploy applications safely to those IIS hosts.
• Linux & NoSQL Database Upgrades: In a separate, parallel project, we are upgrading our NoSQL databases on Linux servers. You will ensure this data layer transition is managed flawlessly.

Your mission is to bring all of these new servers and deployments safely from Dev all the way through to Production, managing the environment configurations strictly at every step.

What You Will Do

• Pipeline Engineering: Build and implement automated CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Ansible Tower to replace legacy, manual deployment processes.
• Environment Gatekeeping: Strictly manage code promotion pathways from Dev to Test to Prod, ensuring total compliance with regulatory audit trails.
• Cross-Platform Troubleshooting: Use your engineering background to diagnose runtime, compilation, and environment failures across both Windows/IIS and Linux setups.
• Database Management: Oversee the safe rollout of NoSQL database upgrades without risking uptime or data integrity (Nice to have)

What You Bring to the Table

• Software Engineering Foundation: Proven background as a Software Engineer. Deep technical expertise in either the Java/Spring/Linux or the .NET/C#/Windows ecosystem, with at least a strong working familiarity and comfort navigating the other.
• The "Regulated" Mindset: Past experience working in a secured or regulated environment where strict change management, testing boundaries, and safe production rollouts are standard practice.
• Automation Toolkit: Hands-on experience getting pipelines in place using Jenkins, Ansible, and Ansible Tower (or similar tools)
• Data Layer Familiarity: Practical knowledge of running, querying, or upgrading NoSQL databases on Linux hosts (nice to have)
