MAD Recruitment
Lithuania · Full-time · Entry

We're hiring this role on behalf of Octocom.

Octocom automates customer support for e-commerce businesses across email, live chat, phone, and social, mostly using agentic AI. The crew is expanding product across different verticals, and doing it with a three-person engineering team.

The future looks bright. 20%+ monthly growth for 17 months. Profitable. Three engineers. Octocom funds growth from revenue, no board dictating priorities, no all-or-nothing bets. Just a business that compounds.

That's the opportunity.

What you'll do

You'll own full product lines from idea to production. Some weeks that means designing a new AI module from scratch. Some weeks it means refactoring something blocking a new feature, or debugging a production issue on a Saturday morning because their best customers don't take the weekend off either.

More in detail:

  • Build new product lines, the brief is "here's a customer problem, go solve it"
  • Develop new features across the full stack (design, frontend, backend, infra)
  • Refactor and scale existing code in a TypeScript monolith
  • Resolve incidents and keep things running

The tech: TypeScript end to end, React, TanStack Router, Tailwind, tRPC, PostgreSQL, Redis, Azure and GCP. No microservices religion, they run a monolith and ship fast.

Who you are

There are a lot of engineers who are technically excellent but can't think from the customer's perspective. Octocom needs the other kind.

  • You're product-minded. You've built full-stack products, something with real scope, where you owned the design, the backend, the frontend, and the infrastructure. Not as part of a 20-person team with a product manager handing you tickets. You thought about what to build and why, and you delivered it.
  • You've deployed AI in production. You've worked with LLMs on real customer problems. You know what hallucination looks like in the wild, how to evaluate models for a use case, how to manage cost at scale, and how to design agent tooling that doesn't leak data or go rogue. AI enthusiasm alone doesn't cut it.
  • You're a generalist. No "frontend person," "backend person," or "cloud person" here. If spinning up a server in the cloud would surprise you, this isn't the right fit. If it sounds like a five-minute job, you're probably the right kind of engineer.
  • You're curious. Side projects, Hacker News, languages learned for fun, these are strong signals. A small team doing an enormous amount needs people who love the craft and figure things out.
  • ~2–5 years of experience. What you've built matters far more than how long you've been building.

This role is not for you if
  • You're not genuinely excited about AI (not just familiar with it, excited)
  • You think of yourself as a backend developer who doesn't do UI
  • Your background is primarily agency, consulting, or enterprise where someone else decided what to build
  • You want fixed hours and a predictable 9-to-5. Octocom needs someone who'll reply on Slack when something matters, even in the evening. They respect your time and won't abuse it, but complete unavailability doesn't work.
What's on offer
  • €5,000–€7,000/month on a B2B contract
  • Revenue share bonus. The team isn't planning to sell. Instead, a pool of company revenue is allocated to employees. As seniority and impact grow, so does the allocation. It vests over time and compounds with performance.
  • 20 days paid leave + national holidays (wherever you are in Europe).
  • Fully remote, with flexible hours. Output matters, not when the laptop is open. What's asked for is reliability and responsiveness, not a rigid schedule.
  • Flat hierarchy, real upside. The engineering team is currently Lukas (CEO, technical founder), Simonas, and Mykolas. Octocom will need a CTO one day — and Lukas won't be it. The people building this company now are the most likely candidates.

The interview process
  1. Screening call with recruiter (±15 min.)
  2. Intro / culture call with team (30min)
  3. Technical whiteboard call (1h-1h30min)+ product design (1h)
  4. Last call (~30 min). On culture and everything else that matters.

Fast, focused, done.

This is a remote role open to candidates based in Europe (CET ±2h preferred).
