Mobile Test Automation Engineer (Android & iOS)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mobile Test Automation Engineer to join a high-performing Agile team responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and high-quality mobile applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in mobile test automation, backend validation, CI/CD integration, and quality engineering practices across Android and iOS platforms.

This role requires hands-on experience in designing and implementing automated testing strategies for native and hybrid mobile applications, validating complex end-to-end user journeys, backend integrations, and secure transaction flows. The successful candidate will work closely with developers, product owners, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure exceptional application quality and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Quality Engineering

• Define and execute comprehensive testing strategies for mobile applications.
• Validate end-to-end customer journeys, business workflows, and backend integrations.
• Ensure complete test coverage across functional, integration, regression, and non-functional testing areas.
• Promote shift-left testing practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Establish and track quality metrics, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms.

Mobile Test Automation

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks.
• Implement automated test suites for:
• Android applications using Espresso
• iOS applications using XCUITest
• Create reusable test components and automation libraries.
• Improve automation coverage, execution efficiency, and test reliability.
• Support automated regression testing and release validation.

Mobile Platform Testing

• Perform testing across multiple:
• Android devices and OS versions
• iOS devices and OS versions
• Validate functionality across native and hybrid mobile applications.
• Ensure compatibility, performance, and usability across supported devices.
• Identify and mitigate platform-specific issues.

API & Backend Testing

• Validate backend services and API integrations supporting mobile applications.
• Perform API testing using Postman and related tools.
• Utilize WireMock for service virtualization and testing complex integration scenarios.
• Verify data consistency across front-end and backend systems.
• Support testing of complex business processes and transaction flows.

CI/CD & DevOps Integration

• Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Support continuous testing practices within CI/CD environments.
• Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to improve release quality.
• Monitor automated test execution and resolve pipeline-related issues.

Debugging & Troubleshooting

• Investigate application issues using network debugging and monitoring tools.
• Analyze requests, responses, and service interactions using:
• Proxyman
• Charles Proxy
• Perform root-cause analysis for defects and performance issues.
• Collaborate with developers to resolve complex technical problems.

Security & Compliance Testing

• Validate secure transaction processing and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure testing activities comply with security, audit, and governance standards.
• Support risk assessment and quality assurance activities for critical business functions.
• Verify compliance controls across mobile applications and integrations.

Agile Collaboration

• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Work closely with developers, product owners, architects, and business stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and quality engineering best practices.
• Mentor team members on automation and testing standards where appropriate.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Mobile Testing & Automation

• 6–8 years of experience in software testing and quality engineering.
• Strong experience in mobile application testing across Android and iOS platforms.
• Hands-on expertise in:
• Espresso (Android Automation)
• XCUITest (iOS Automation)
• Experience testing native and hybrid mobile applications.
• Strong understanding of mobile application architecture and testing methodologies.

API & Backend Testing

• Experience with:
• Postman
• WireMock
• API validation and integration testing
• Ability to validate complex backend workflows and data flows.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and service-oriented architectures.

CI/CD & DevOps

• Experience integrating test automation with Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and continuous testing practices.
• Understanding of release management and automated deployment processes.

Debugging & Monitoring

• Experience using:
• Charles Proxy
• Proxyman
• Network traffic analysis tools
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

Quality Engineering

• Experience implementing shift-left testing approaches.
• Knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and quality metrics.
• Understanding of software quality assurance principles and best practices.

Security & Compliance

• Experience validating secure transactions and business-critical workflows.
• Understanding of regulatory compliance, audit requirements, and secure testing practices.
• Familiarity with security testing concepts for mobile applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within banking, financial services, fintech, or regulated industries.
• Knowledge of mobile performance testing.
• Exposure to mobile security testing tools and methodologies.
• Experience with test reporting and quality dashboards.
• ISTQB or equivalent testing certification.
• Familiarity with cloud-based testing environments.
