Senior Enterprise Network Engineer - Remote (EU)
Our client is a fast-growing cloud infrastructure company focused on AI and ML workloads. The Enterprise Networking team owns office networks, enterprise VPN, and related infrastructure across more than 10 global offices.
This role sits at the intersection of office and data centre infrastructure - not a pure campus engineer and not a pure DC specialist, but someone who owns the full connectivity fabric that ties both together: office LANs, wireless, VPN, physical site infrastructure, firewalls at both the office perimeter and DC edge, and the automation that keeps it coherent across multiple EU locations
They are expanding the Senior Enterprise Network team in the Netherlands due to hypergrowth. You will own the enterprise networking scope for the EU region as part of a team of 5, working closely with a US-based team (currently 2 engineers) to standardise architecture and operations globally.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and operation of enterprise wired and wireless office networks in the EU
- Own enterprise VPN infrastructure connecting employees to internal systems, including capacity planning, resiliency, and continuous improvement
- Manage office networking components such as WiFi, printers, CCTV, and access control systems
- Own and maintain physical site infrastructure including building management systems (BMS) and security cameras
- Manage firewalls across both office perimeters and data centre edges, including policy management, troubleshooting, and VPN configuration; this is not the primary focus but is an integral part of the role
- Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, including cross-region incidents and root cause analysis
- Work with ISPs and vendors, lead escalations, and manage connectivity-related issues
- Design, deploy, and improve automation and monitoring using Python and Ansible-style tooling
- Operate and administer Linux-based systems supporting network services
- Collaborate with the US-based team to standardise global architecture and operational practices
Requirements
- Strong enterprise routing and switching knowledge, including TCP/IP fundamentals and dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
- Experience in product-driven tech organisations (500+ employees) — candidates from traditional enterprise, government, MSP, telco, or consultancy backgrounds will not be considered
- Recent, hands-on Linux administration experience including running and managing services; this is a firm requirement
- Automation experience using Python and configuration management tools such as Ansible; scripting-level ability is expected, not developer-level
- Firewall experience across office and data centre environments: policy management, troubleshooting, and VPN configuration
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with enterprise WiFi and VPN in large-scale environments
- Working knowledge of IPv6
- Exposure to physical site infrastructure including BMS and CCTV systems
Compensation
- Base: up to €120,000
- Bonus: 25% guaranteed annual bonus
- Performance bonus
- Equity: RSU package available for candidates placed at internal grade 17
Work authorisation: EU citizen or HSM holder
