Junior Software Developer | Lisbon/Cascais | Hybrid, two days in office | €37,000

We are hiring a Junior Developer to join a growing engineering team in Lisbon/Cascais.

You will work across backend development, automation, integrations and technical support, helping improve products and processes used in a regulated industry. The engineering team is actively changing how it works around AI, automation and developer tooling, so you will need to be curious, adaptable and comfortable learning quickly.

What you’ll be doing

  • Building and maintaining backend logic, automation workflows and system integrations
  • Supporting automated data collection and processing across a large international regulatory landscape
  • Investigating and resolving third-line technical support issues
  • Writing reliable, maintainable code in line with engineering standards
  • Monitoring automation performance and resolving issues or bottlenecks
  • Working with technical and non-technical colleagues to understand processes and identify opportunities to automate them
  • Participating in Scrum ceremonies, technical discussions and continuous improvement
  • Using AI tools thoughtfully across development, testing and problem-solving

What we’re looking for

  • One or more years of commercial C# backend or full-stack development experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to investigate unfamiliar issues independently
  • Experience with C#, Python, PowerShell or Bash/Shell
  • SQL and database knowledge, including writing queries to validate data and investigate issues
  • Understanding of REST APIs, integrations and web applications
  • Comfortable working in a Scrum environment
  • Clear communication skills and confidence contributing to technical discussions
  • Genuine interest in AI-assisted development and how it is changing engineering work
  • Evidence of responsibility outside a standard academic path, such as working alongside study, personal projects, open-source work, volunteering, sport, societies or other sustained commitments

We are interested in real examples of things you have built, improved, fixed or learned independently.

Useful experience

  • Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Automation frameworks or automated testing
  • Postman or API testing
  • HTML and CSS
  • Working in international or English-first teams

What’s on offer

  • €37,000 starting salary
  • Hybrid working, with two days per week in the Lisbon/Cascais office
  • Private medical insurance, subject to scheme terms
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Ongoing technical development and progression
  • Hands-on exposure to automation, integrations and AI-led engineering work

You must already have the right to work in Portugal. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
