What will be your role

We are looking for an AI Engineer to join our team in Lisbon and help shape the next generation of AI-powered solutions across multiple projects and industries.

In this role, you'll work at the intersection of business and technology, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design, build, and deliver AI solutions that create measurable impact. You'll help translate business challenges into practical AI applications while contributing to the evolution of our AI capabilities and best practices.

Whether developing intelligent assistants, implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions, orchestrating AI agents, or integrating Large Language Models into business processes, you'll play a key role in driving AI adoption across our projects.

Your responsibilities will include

• Collaborating with business stakeholders to understand challenges and identify AI opportunities that deliver tangible value
• Designing and developing AI-powered solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, and modern AI frameworks
• Building and maintaining AI workflows using technologies such as LangChain, LangGraph, and Azure AI services
• Developing, testing, and optimizing prompts, orchestration flows, and knowledge retrieval pipelines
• Integrating AI capabilities with enterprise applications, APIs, and existing data platforms
• Evaluating emerging AI technologies and contributing to technical decisions and architecture discussions
• Ensuring AI solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with engineering best practices
• Working closely with software engineers, data engineers, architects, and product stakeholders throughout the solution lifecycle
• Promoting responsible AI practices, governance, documentation, and knowledge sharing across the organization
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of our AI capabilities, accelerators, and internal best practices

What should you bring to the team

• 3+ years of experience in AI Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar roles
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Experience designing and delivering AI-powered applications using Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Hands-on experience implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions
• Experience with AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph
• Solid understanding of prompt engineering, embeddings, vector databases, and semantic search
• Experience integrating AI solutions through APIs and cloud services
• Experience working with Azure AI services, Azure OpenAI, or similar cloud AI platforms
• Strong Python development skills
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, testing, and software engineering best practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Availability to work in a hybrid model (2 days per week) in Lisbon
• Fluent Portuguese and English, both written and spoken

Nice to have

• Experience with GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools
• Experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure Machine Learning, or Microsoft Fabric
• Experience with agentic AI architectures and multi-agent systems
• Familiarity with vector databases such as Azure AI Search, Pinecone, Weaviate, or ChromaDB
• Experience with MLOps, LLMOps, observability, and AI evaluation frameworks
• Knowledge of Responsible AI principles, governance, and security
• Experience working in consulting environments and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
