Three regional banks share one e-banking portal, run by an Austrian banking-IT provider. While a modern replacement is being built in parallel, the existing system stays live — and it needs active development, not just babysitting. You join the client’s own dev team and deliver change requests and maintenance on the legacy stack.

You join a peer-level team on a client account we’ve delivered on since 2025 — not a project that dies at the next quarterly review.

YOUR ENVIRONMENT

The system has two sides. The middleware runs on Java EE, JBOSS and Enterprise Java Beans; the customer portal is a JSP/HTML/CSS frontend. It has run in production for years and three banks depend on it every day. Your work is change requests and maintenance on that codebase — the client rates it as complex, so it needs someone who has worked in large, long-running Java systems before.

Team (~13 people, entirely SPG): 4 frontend devs (Angular 19), 3 backend devs, 3 QA, 1 UX, project management, 1 BA, 1 overarching role.

YOUR FIRST MONTHS

• Month 1: You onboard the client’s environment, work into the middleware (EJB/JBOSS) and portal (JSP) landscape, and pick up your first change requests.
• Months 2–3: You deliver CRs and maintenance independently within the client’s dev cadence, ideally across both the middleware and the portal.
• Month 4+: You’re a steady contributor on the legacy system; the engagement renews per tranche.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• You implement change requests on the legacy portal and its middleware — real feature work, not ticket-shuffling.
• You handle software maintenance on the existing codebase and investigate the occasional 3rd-level production ticket.
• You work as a member of the client’s dev team, aligned to their process and tools.
• You work deep into an established Java EE / EJB and JSP codebase and turn requirements into shippable changes.

YOUR PROFILE

Java EE, JBOSS and EJB on the middleware side; JSP, HTML and CSS on the portal. One package is required, both is ideal — a small gap is fine if you’re willing to learn. You work comfortably in English within a distributed team.
