Senior Software Engineer

Job Role

A dedicated startup is being formed to industrialize and scale a secure, AI-enabled, multi-source decision-support software offering. The platform is a multi-sensor fusion and agentic AI solution connecting to diverse data sources (for example geospatial layers, imagery, video, and other operational signals). This role will support the delivery of a scalable product and contribute to establishing the processes, standards, and collaboration practices required for sustainable growth.

The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable, reliable software systems that support data-intensive analytics and decision-support applications. The role focuses on robust backend development, system architecture, and engineering best practices to ensure performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services for data ingestion, processing, and analytics
• Architect APIs and services to support analytical workflows and decision-support applications
• Build and maintain data pipelines for large, heterogeneous datasets
• Ensure system reliability, performance, and security across environments
• Collaborate closely with scientists, GIS specialists, and data engineers to translate analytical requirements into production systems
• Lead code reviews, contribute to engineering standards, and mentor junior engineers
• Support deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of production systems
• Contribute to technical roadmaps and architectural decisions
• Typically 5+ years of relevant experience in a fast-paced product environment.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (or equivalent practical experience).

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 7+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or Java, Go, or similar backend languages
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and backend services
• Solid understanding of databases and data storage systems (PostgreSQL, PostGIS, NoSQL)
• Experience with cloud platforms and modern deployment practices

• Experience working with data-intensive or analytics-driven platforms
• Familiarity with geospatial or scientific data workflows
• Exposure to AI/ML systems and model integration
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies
