Android Developer

We are hiring an experienced Android Engineer for an exciting fully remote contract opportunity with our client. You'll help build and scale an Android application used by millions of customers, delivering innovative, high-impact mobile experiences that drive customer engagement and business growth.

Duration: 6-month contract (with strong potential for extension or conversion to a full-time permanent position)

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and the Android SDK.
• Build and enhance recommendation and suggestion-driven experiences, including dynamic home feed functionality.
• Contribute to core product areas such as search and discovery, ordering and checkout, and real-time order tracking.
• Ship new features quickly while supporting experimentation focused on customer engagement, retention, and revenue growth.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver exceptional mobile experiences.
• Integrate GraphQL APIs and work with backend services.
• Utilize Sentry and Datadog for application monitoring, analytics, and backend visibility.
• Ensure application stability across a wide range of Android devices and optimize performance in varying network conditions.
• Debug and troubleshoot features from end to end while maintaining clean, modular, and scalable code.
• Participate in Git-based development and CI/CD workflows.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience developing native Android applications.
• Strong expertise with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and the Android SDK.
• Experience with GraphQL.
• Familiarity with Ruby and Go in a backend-integrated environment.
• Experience using Sentry and Datadog for monitoring, analytics, and observability.
• Experience building recommendation-driven product experiences and dynamic home page or home feed functionality.
• Familiarity with design systems and internal developer tooling.
• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience optimizing application performance and reliability across diverse Android devices and network conditions.
• Self-starter with a strong ownership mindset and experience working in startup or small-to-mid-sized environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote environment.
