Senior Backend Software Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, building high-quality software and contributing to the direction of products and platforms.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll work as part of a collaborative team, designing, building and evolving scalable cloud-native applications. You'll be involved throughout the software development lifecycle, from solution design and implementation through to testing, deployment and continuous improvement.

You'll have the opportunity to influence technical decisions, mentor other engineers and help drive engineering best practices while working on modern distributed systems.

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop and maintain scalable cloud-based applications and services.
• Build high-quality APIs and backend services using modern engineering practices.
• Contribute to software architecture, technical design and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with engineers, product managers and stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure and well-tested solutions.
• Champion clean code, automated testing, CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and improve the performance, reliability and scalability of production systems.
• Mentor team members and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.

What we're looking for

• Strong commercial experience developing software using TypeScript and modern backend technologies.
• Experience building cloud-native applications, ideally within AWS.
• Strong understanding of APIs, microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and modern software delivery practices.
• Knowledge of software architecture, design patterns and data modelling.
• A passion for writing clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
