About the Company

Our client is a high-growth, venture-backed data analytics and cutting-edge software company. Their proprietary platform combines best-in-class remote sensing, machine learning, and advanced data-fusion approaches to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions to global industries. With an expanding international footprint and a rapidly growing local engineering hub, they are scaling their platform to support an 8x increase in data ingestion over the next few years.

Why this role is different:

There are currently no DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineers on the ground in their Luxembourg office. Up until now, their infrastructure has been expertly maintained by the developers, but they've reached the scale where they need a dedicated Subject Matter Expert to take the wheel.

You won’t be inherited a rigid, legacy system to push tickets. You will act as an In-House Consultant, inheriting a blank slate to audit, design, secure, and scale a €50k+/month AWS ecosystem entirely from scratch.

What you’ll do:

• Own the Infrastructure: Take complete ownership of core cloud infrastructure components from concept to production, managing and optimizing multi-cluster environments.
• Lead the Strategy: Proactively audit existing pipelines, propose architectural changes, and present technical initiatives directly to engineering leadership.
• Support the Data Engine: Embed closely with a talented, expanding team of 7 Data Engineers to optimize high-performance ELT/ETL pipelines, minimize latency, and automate development workflows.
• Drive FinOps & Security: Take responsibility for advanced cost-tracking across multiple environments (mapping spend by project boundaries) and build the foundation for consistent DevSecOps practices.

What they are looking for:

They value architectural maturity and the ability to build from scratch over a perfect checklist of keywords. However, the essentials include:

• Proven experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
• Deep Architectural Fluency in AWS & GitLab: You know exactly how to bootstrap a blank AWS account from your local machine into a production-ready environment.
• Containerization Master: Strong proficiency with Kubernetes (K8s) and cloud-native workloads.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on experience with frameworks like Terraform.
• Pragmatic Thinker: You understand the boundaries of what is "production-ready" vs. a proof-of-concept, and you can clearly articulate the tradeoffs of your architectural choices.
• A natural Owner: High assertiveness and excellent communication skills—someone who can confidently guide software engineers and data scientists on best infrastructure practices.

Highly Desirable (But Not Dealbreakers):

• Experience with GitOps/Deployment automation tools (e.g., ArgoCD).
• Exposure to Open Observability frameworks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana) or DataDog.
• Experience implementing project-based cost tracking (e.g., KubeCost, OpenCost).
• Background working alongside Data Engineering or Machine Learning squads.
