SAP Solutions area is part of FCOS Madrid and an integral part of the central Finance & Controlling (FC) organization of Mercedes-Benz Group.
Our team of ~67 professionals combine SAP consultancy excellence with product steering capabilities. We operate within the Dual Operating Model (Capabilities & Products) and actively contribute to the Agile Release Trains (ARTs) under the SAFe framework across FA/SC and ITG.
Our focus lies on delivering and steering Finance Solutions based on SAP technologies, covering core end-to-end financial processes such as:
• Record-to-Report (R2R)
• Purchase-to-Pay (P2P)
• Order-to-Cash (O2C)
• Financial Services & Mobility
• Finance Business Intelligence (FI-BI)
We provide deep expertise in Mercedes-Benz Finance templates, SAP Finance architecture, data & analytics solutions, and agile delivery models. Role Purpose
The Business Analyst – Overhead Controlling Governance plays a key role as a bridge between Finance business stakeholders and IT teams. This role focuses on Overhead Controlling (OHC), ensuring robust governance of reporting processes, data structures, and financial results. The analyst contributes to improving transparency, consistency, and compliance in financial reporting while enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Requirements Engineering & Analysis — Gather, analyze, and validate business requirements related to Overhead Controlling, ensuring alignment between business needs and system capabilities.
• Process Assessment & Governance — Assess accounting and controlling processes, ensuring compliance with internal governance frameworks (e.g., FA Golden Rules) and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Overhead Controlling & Reporting — Analyze financial results, including fixed and proportional cost components, and support reporting governance and capital-related analyses.
• Solution Design & Implementation — Translate business requirements into functional specifications for SAP and BI solutions, supporting implementation, testing, and rollout.
• Stakeholder Management — Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Finance, IT, and global stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
• Data & System Integration — Ensure consistency between ERP and BI systems, understanding how transactional data impacts reporting outcomes.
• Continuous Improvement — Identify optimization opportunities in reporting structures, processes, and tools, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications Educations & Experience
• Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, or comparable field, with a strong focus on Controlling and Financial Reporting.
• Complementary education or specialization in Accounting Standards (especially IFRS), Management Control, or Enterprise Reporting Systems is considered beneficial.
• Comprehensive, several years of experience in: o Accounting or Controlling environments. o Design of business processes, methods, and systems for accounting and controlling relevant business processes. o Internal control systems in the context of Overhead Controlling.
• Experience in results analysis and reporting, especially fixed and variable result components derived from Overhead Controlling reporting and capital requirements.
• Experience in SAFe-based Agile environments within large-scale organizations.
• Ideally, experience working in a Controlling or Accounting organizational unit within the Mercedes-Benz Group.
Technical & Professional Expertise Controlling & Finance
• Strong understanding of Controlling processes, especially Overhead Controlling and financial reporting processes.
• Knowledge of financial data structures and reporting frameworks within large organizations.
• Knowledge of business management contexts and specifics within Mercedes-Benz accounting & controlling, as well as basic and supplier processes.
• Profound knowledge of reporting processes and financial data structures within the Mercedes-Benz Group.
• Understanding of business processes and value drivers impacting financial results.
• Good knowledge of relevant legal frameworks, especially IFRS.
• Ability to assess business processes and reporting requirements to comply with internal governance rules (e.g. FA Golden Rules).
• Very good knowledge of MB business processes and their drivers for the company's results is desirable. SAP & Financial Systems • Strong knowledge of SAP ERP, particularly CO OM in S/4HANA.
• Deep understanding of ERP transactions and their impact on reporting and analytics, with a particular focus on Overhead Controlling. BI & Data
• Functional knowledge of BI and reporting tools such as MS Fabric or SAP BW.
• Understanding of the integrated approach both within BI and in interaction with ERP, with a particular focus on Overhead Controlling.
• Understanding data governance, data quality principles, and Finance analytics architecture. Agile • Knowledge and experience in SAFe, Scrum, and Agile methodologies.
• Strong understanding of Jira/Confluence, Azure DevOps, or comparable toolchains.
