About the Opportunity

Surge Group is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-growth AI technology company building next-generation enterprise intelligence platforms.

This role is ideal for an experienced backend engineer who enjoys solving large-scale technical challenges, designing distributed systems, and building reliable infrastructure that powers AI- driven products. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and AI specialists to develop scalable backend services, data pipelines, and APIs used by enterprise customers.

This is a hands-on engineering role with significant ownership and the opportunity to influence architecture, product direction, and engineering standards.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design, build, and scale backend services using Python and Go.
• Architect APIs and distributed systems supporting AI-powered applications.
• Develop scalable data ingestion and processing pipelines.
• Build reliable, high-performance backend infrastructure.
• Collaborate closely with AI and Machine Learning engineers to deploy intelligent features
• into production.
• Design systems for scalability, observability, fault tolerance, and performance.
• Drive architectural decisions and establish best practices for backend engineering.
• Mentor engineers through technical leadership and code reviews.
• Own projects from design through production deployment.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Strong Python development experience.
• Experience building scalable distributed systems and microservices.
• Strong understanding of API design and backend architecture.
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Strong computer science fundamentals and system design skills.
• Comfortable owning systems end-to-end.
• Startup or high-growth technology company experience is highly preferred.
