About August

August is a strategic communications advisory firm that believes nothing is more important than effective communication when it comes to influencing perception, driving value, and protecting reputation. We apply years of experience, specialized practice area and industry expertise, and a holistic approach to help our clients tell their stories and effectively engage with stakeholders during their times of greatest opportunity and need.

August is headquartered in New York with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dallas. The firm’s professionals advise clients on matters in several specific areas based on their unique areas of expertise, including:

  • Crisis management
  • Litigation and investigations
  • Financial restructurings and chapter 11 cases
  • Transactions/M&A
  • Shareholder activism and proxy contests
  • Positioning and reputation management
  • Healthcare
  • Blockchain, digital assets, and fintech

August is not your typical strategic communications firm. As a relatively new entrant into a small, competitive space, we understand that to succeed we must serve our clients with excellence and maintain a consistently high level of work. To achieve this, we are continuing to build – and empower our outstanding talent to thrive in – a highly collaborative, transparent, and entrepreneurial culture. We believe that our success depends on empowering our team and that as we continue to grow, all team members should play an active role in shaping our firm’s strategy, culture, and identity.

At August, every client engagement is different, enabling our team members to continuously learn and grow. We strive to enhance these opportunities by providing educational resources, training, and encouragement to step outside of our comfort zones to become better strategic communicators and professionals.

We also believe that our success depends on motivating our team to be engaged in the betterment of their communities and our world, so we have established a robust corporate philanthropy program and have committed to donate at least 1% of our profits in connection with the Pledge 1% movement.

  • Familiarity and comfort with utilizing research databases and social media platforms
  • Aptitude for producing high-quality work product in high-stakes situations and within a short timeframe
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (Office, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

What you’ll do

  • Conduct research assignments (background research for new business meetings, reporter briefing packets, media lists, case studies, benchmarking research, etc.)
  • Support colleagues in developing written communications materials (key messaging, talking points, press releases, Q&As, memos, presentations, announcement rollouts, pitch notes, etc.)
  • Prepare analyses based on research of media coverage and relevant industry trends
  • Monitor and circulate media coverage in real time for numerous client engagements
  • Actively participate in internal and client meetings
  • Participate in training sessions on our industries and practice areas, including how to develop your professional network and “pitch” the firm
  • Consistently engage with colleagues to seek new challenges that provide opportunities for growth and development
  • Embody an entrepreneurial mindset and approach in supporting August’s internal, administrative, and marketing functions

To apply, please send your resume and cover letter to [email protected]. We will review your application and contact you if your interests and experience align with what we’re seeking.
