Python MCP Engineer

We are looking for a Python MCP Engineer to build and maintain Model Context Protocol (MCP) services powering integrations between AI agents, tools, and enterprise platforms. The role focuses on Python backend development, asynchronous APIs, MCP server implementation, observability, and secure cloud-native deployments on AWS. The ideal candidate has strong Python engineering skills, experience building API-driven integrations, and a solid understanding of modern distributed systems.

IT platform hosts 700+ applications.

Intellia’s mission is to help the client with the engineering of a comprehensive software ecosystem for a game-changing IoT product on the margin of innovative consumer experience and cutting-edge technology. Our teams are involved in the engineering of core platform components for best-in-class eCommerce, Digital Marketing and IoT solutions. As an Engineer, you will become a part of Core Architecture Team and be responsible for the architecture, implementation of best practices in our Digital Engineering Enterprise Platform.

The Platform is a set of services and internet applications that accelerate the development and delivery of software applications by taking care of common SDLC challenges. The Platform provides access and consumption for engineering teams to a set of services, technologies, practices for their development and for operating their application, ensuring a set of compliance and best practices.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain MCP servers using Python, FastMCP, and modern asynchronous frameworks.
• Build API-driven integrations between AI agents, enterprise services, and external tools.
• Develop scalable backend services using FastAPI, asyncio, and Pydantic.
• Implement MCP protocol functionality and server-side communication patterns.
• Deploy and operate services on AWS using Lambda, API Gateway, and related cloud services.
• Design and maintain secure containerized workloads following security best practices and baseline hardening standards.
• Implement observability using OpenTelemetry, including distributed traces, metrics, and structured logging.
• Create and maintain API contracts, schemas, validation logic, and integration documentation.
• Optimize service performance, reliability, and operational visibility.
• Build automated testing and validation mechanisms for integration workflows.
• Collaborate with AI platform teams to enable seamless tool and agent interoperability.
• Troubleshoot production issues and support continuous improvement of platform services.

What you need for this

• Python (FastMCP, asyncio, Pydantic)

• AWS Lambda and API Gateway

• MCP protocol — server-side implementation

• OpenTelemetry (traces, metrics, logs)

• Container security baseline

Experience:

• 4+ years Python development

• API/integration engineering

• Async Python frameworks (FastAPI, aiohttp)

• FastMCP library hands-on experience

• LangGraph tool integration

• AWS Bedrock or AgentCore exposure

Will be a plus:
