About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Android Developer to join our team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the development and maintenance of high-quality mobile applications for a major consulting client. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects, utilizing cutting-edge Android development technologies. The role is initially set for three months, with the possibility of extension until March 2027, depending on project requirements and performance. Candidates should ideally be based in Scotland, with a requirement to travel to Glasgow once per week. Non-local candidates may be considered, but priority will be given to those residing within the region.
Qualifications
The Android Developer will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining features within Android applications. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including designers, testers, analysts, and other technical specialists to deliver seamless and user-friendly mobile solutions. The role involves writing clean, maintainable Kotlin code that adheres to best practices and coding standards. You will contribute to technical discussions, provide innovative solutions, and support the continuous improvement of mobile delivery processes. Additionally, you will be involved in troubleshooting and resolving bugs, optimizing application performance, and ensuring compatibility across different devices and Android versions. You will also be expected to participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.

Qualifications
- Strong commercial experience with Kotlin and/or Java for Android development.
- Proficiency in building Android applications using MVVM architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose for modern UI development.
- Familiarity with Android Studio and Android Jetpack libraries, including LiveData and Navigation Component.
- Experience with asynchronous programming using Coroutines.
- Knowledge of REST API integration, ideally using Retrofit.
- Experience with Git version control system.
- Understanding of Gradle build automation.
- Experience with Google Play release processes.
- Agile Scrum delivery experience, with a focus on iterative development and continuous improvement.
