NOC Engineer | £25,000 - £32,000 + Bonus | Hybrid | MSP
Our client is looking for a NOC Engineer to join a growing Managed Services team, providing first-line technical support to a diverse client base across enterprise networking environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in IT support and networking who enjoys troubleshooting, solving problems, and developing their technical skills within a collaborative and supportive team.
What You'll Be Doing
As the first point of contact for customers, you'll play a key role in ensuring incidents and service requests are handled professionally, efficiently, and within agreed service levels.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the first point of contact for technical incidents and service requests via phone, email, customer portal and monitoring systems.
- Logging, prioritising and managing support tickets through the ITSM platform.
- Troubleshooting connectivity, hardware and software issues, resolving incidents where possible at first contact.
- Escalating more complex issues to 2nd Line Support with clear and accurate documentation.
- Keeping customers informed throughout the lifecycle of incidents with regular updates.
- Monitoring customer environments proactively, responding to alerts before they become major issues.
- Carrying out routine maintenance, health checks, updates and patching activities.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and contributing to the internal knowledge base.
- Following security best practices and identifying potential security or compliance concerns.
What We're Looking For
You'll ideally have
- Previous experience in a 1st Line Support, Service Desk or Helpdesk role.
- A good understanding of networking fundamentals including routing, switching and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Experience using ITSM/ticketing systems in an SLA-driven environment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- A proactive, team-focused approach with a genuine desire to deliver outstanding customer service.
- A networking qualification such as CCNA, JNCIA, CompTIA Network+ (or be actively working towards one).
Desirable Experience
- ITIL Foundation (or awareness of ITIL principles).
- Experience working within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.
- Exposure to enterprise networking technologies including Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto or Fortinet.
- Experience with network monitoring and proactive support tools.
