Subject Matter Expert – Crypto & Digital Assets

We are looking for an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Crypto & Digital Assets to support the development and governance of Financial Economic Crime (FEC) policies, risk frameworks, and control measures related to cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, and digital assets.

In this strategic role, you will act as the organization's expert on crypto-related financial crime risks, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies. You will advise senior stakeholders, shape policies, oversee governance, and help ensure compliance while supporting innovation in the digital asset landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain risk and control frameworks for crypto and digital asset activities.
• Design and improve policies, standards, and governance related to digital assets and financial crime.
• Assess and mitigate risks including money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion, fraud, market manipulation, and market abuse.
• Advise senior management, Compliance, Risk, FEC teams, and business stakeholders on crypto-related topics and regulatory expectations.
• Monitor global regulatory and industry developments and translate them into practical policies and risk controls.
• Define and implement preventive and detective control measures using industry best practices and data-driven approaches.
• Support the implementation of new controls and enhancements across the organization.
• Develop clear narratives demonstrating how digital asset risks are identified, assessed, monitored, and mitigated.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives involving blockchain, tokenization, stablecoins, and other emerging financial technologies.
• Deliver training, coaching, and knowledge-sharing sessions to strengthen organizational expertise.

Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent level of education and experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in Financial Services, Compliance, Risk Management, Financial Crime, Digital Assets, or Emerging Technologies.
• Extensive expertise in cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, digital assets, and tokenized finance.
• Strong knowledge of financial crime risks related to crypto, including AML, sanctions, fraud, market abuse, and terrorist financing.
• Solid understanding of Crypto-Asset Service Providers (CASPs), crypto exchanges, custodians, stablecoins, and decentralized finance (DeFi).
• In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations, including MiCA, AMLD, FATF guidance, and the Travel Rule.
• Experience designing and implementing risk frameworks, governance models, policies, and controls within complex organizations.
• Knowledge of blockchain analytics, transaction monitoring solutions, and digital asset risk management methodologies.
• Proven ability to lead complex regulatory or transformation initiatives.
