Your role
The successful candidate will conduct research, education, and technology transfer in the area of the Cloud Systems Engineering. The candidate is an internationally recognized scientist in the field with a strong track record of internationally competitive research in relation to the candidate’s career stage. The candidate will build/lead a research team at SnT. At SnT, the position holder shall conduct top research in close collaboration with industry/government partners and engage in a number of European and international projects.

Your role

The mission is (but not limited) to:
- Build and lead a Cloud Systems Engineering group at SnT, University of Luxembourg
- Lead and develop excellent research and technology transfer creating impact at national and international levels
- Undertake and publish high-quality research cognizant of relevant metrics for international reputation and scholarly merit
- Establish systematic and structured approach to knowledge transfer through collaborative research with private and public sector actors
- Acquire competitive research funding through national and international funding bodies
- Take responsibility for all aspects of the research strategy, operations and management
- PhD in Computer Science or Engineering
- Documented research expertise in various fields related to Cloud Systems Engineering, including (but not limited to)
- Scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant cloud systems
- Distributed/parallel systems and algorithms
- Cloud, multi- and hybrid-cloud environments
- Distributed architectures
- Digital and/or AI/ML sovereignty
- Public cloud and digital embassies
- Additional proven expertise in AI/ML and cybersecurity linked to disconnected and distributed cloud architectures is a plus
- Research experience around innovations in Cybersecurity are considered an asset
- Experience in leading research including successful research project acquisition from diverse and competitive sources
- Excellent publication record in top-tier journals and conferences
- Proficient in English is required. Knowledge of either French or German is considered an asset. The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. The University encourages its staff to learn the other language and provides access to language courses to this end
