ENERGY SYSTEMS INTEGRATION – TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Due to the ongoing success of this initiative, we are currently looking for highly skilled and motivated Energy Systems Integration Engineer based in Qatar, to join an international team shaping a sustainable and resilient energy future.

Position Overview:

We are looking for highly skilled and experienced Energy Systems Integration Engineer to join our Energy team. Working at a Technical Director level, you will provide crucial support to our Global business in leading and realising high-impact projects across the transmission and distribution spectrum, whilst being instrumental in delivering innovative and resilient energy networks that support the global energy transition in Qatar.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Expertise: Provide advanced technical guidance on energy systems integration, including transmission and distribution networks, renewable energy integration and smart grid technologies.
• Leadership and Direction: Lead and inspire teams delivering high-impact projects, fostering excellence in all aspects of transmission and distribution system design and engineering.
• Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and key point of contact for technical expertise and project delivery.
• Business Development: Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation, client presentations and the expansion of GHD’s portfolio in the energy sector.
• Connection Studies: Conduct and oversee connection studies to evaluate the feasibility and impact of integrating new energy sources into existing transmission and distribution networks.
• Network System Studies: Conduct and oversee comprehensive network system studies to analyse and optimise the performance, stability, and reliability of energy networks.
• Project Management: Oversee projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
• Cross-Regional Collaboration: Work closely with our Global business, ensuring seamless project execution under our global service delivery model.
  
  

Qualifications and skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, energy systems, or a related field. A PhD is a plus.
• Extensive experience in energy systems integration engineering at a Principal or Technical Director level. Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) desirable.
• Proven track record of leading complex projects, with a strong focus on technical excellence, client satisfaction, commercial success and winning work.
• Strong connections to local authorities/clients/stakeholders and the ability to leverage those networks to drive business growth. Prior experience working with local government agencies or a well-established presence in the local market is highly desirable.
• Proficient in power system modelling and analysis using industry-standard software tools to perform detailed power system analysis, modelling, and simulations including DIgSILENT PowerFactory, IPSA, SKM Power Tools, PSCAD, and PSSE.
• Passionate about SMART grid technologies and the future of energy, with a drive to implement forward-thinking solutions.
• A team player with excellent communication skills, able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
