About Yamaha Motor Europe

Yamaha Motor Europe is responsible for coordinating the marketing and sales activities of our products in the European marketplace, mainly: Yamaha motorcycles and scooters, marine outboard engines, Wave runner water vehicles, 4-wheel All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s), golf cars, snowmobiles, and generators.

For Yamaha Motor Europe N.V., located at Schiphol-Rijk in the Netherlands, we are looking for a Senior Network Engineer in our Information Systems Division.

About The Role

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for all activities that contribute to ensure the availability of YME’s WAN and LANs and related IT infrastructure as per agreed service levels, allowing users of Yamaha Motor Europe, European distributor organizations and, if applicable, users of third parties to use Yamaha’s business applications and office automation tools. Next to that, the Senior Network Engineer acts as a project manager to contribute towards the execution of IT projects on a European level. Concluding, the Senior Network Engineer analyses IT issues related to the activities of Yamaha Motor, in consultation with involved parties, and formulates improvement proposals within the framework set by divisional management.

Principle Accountabilities

• Accountable for the day-to-day operational activities like monitoring and maintenance of Yamaha’s IT infrastructure (Cloud/Windows/VMware/Network/etc.);
• Ensure continuous service by minimizing the business impact in the event of an IT service interruption;
• Focus on building resilience into automated solutions and on developing, maintaining and testing IT continuity plans;
• Ensure systems security by actively minimizing the impact of security vulnerabilities and incidents;
• Establish policies and procedures to ensure systems security such as user account creation and maintenance;
• Conducts LAN/WAN analysis to ensure optimal performance of the network, including monthly utilization reports; resolves issues within the LAN/WAN environments
• Establish and maintain an accurate and complete repository of all Cloud IT infrastructure components (Servers, Services, licenses, etc.) and verify on a regular basis that the repository reflects the actual situation;
• Provide the appropriate platforms for the business applications, following the defined IT standards and the overall technology direction;
• Communicate in clear and unambiguous terms with (key) users about any relevant issue using any suitable tool for communication (mail, phone, presentations etc.);
• Admit mistakes in functionality but also point out the user’s responsibilities in a professional non-accusative manner;
• Evaluates interrelationships between systems, identifies how changes may affect other systems and makes modifications where necessary.
  
  

What do you bring?

• Bachelor level through experience or education in business or IT;
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar function;
• Hands-on experience with networking technologies (Cisco switches, Checkpoint firewalls etc.);
• Ability to learn and adapt to an ever changing technical environment;
• Good analytical thinking;
• Ability to investigate and resolve infrastructure incidents in a self-sufficient way;
• Good communication and social skills in an international environment;
• Proficient knowledge of the English language, both spoken and in writing;
• Mastering other European languages is an advantage;
• Willingness to travel inside Europe.
