Alterra Management Limited is an Asset Manager incorporated in the ADGM, regulated by the ADGM Financial Services Regulatory Authority that manages the Alterra Climate Vehicles.
Role Overview:
To contribute to impactful climate-focused investment decisions by leveraging data analytics, modelling, and visualization.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Data Collection and Preparation:
- Gather, clean, and organize diverse datasets, including climate, financial, environmental, and socio-economic data.
- Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing rigorous validation and error-checking processes.
Data Analysis and Modelling:
- Develop predictive and prescriptive models to assess the risks and opportunities of climate investments.
- Use statistical techniques to analyze climate and market trends, helping the team make data-driven decisions.
- Create machine learning models for scenario analysis, forecasting, and optimization of investment portfolios.
Visualization and Reporting:
- Design clear and compelling visualizations to communicate complex findings to stakeholders.
- Contribute to ALTERRA’s internal and external reports and presentations
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with the investment team to integrate data insights into decision-making processes.
- Support other members of the climate impact team in ongoing projects.
Innovation and Research:
- Explore emerging data science techniques and tools to enhance the fund’s analytics capabilities.
- Conduct research on climate-related metrics, frameworks, and technologies relevant to sustainable investing.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data science, Statistics/econometrics, Environmental Science, Economics or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in data analytics, machine learning, or related roles.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or other programming languages for data analysis.
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., KNIME, DATAIKU, Tableau or Power BI).
- Familiarity with databases and data querying using SQL.
- Strong understanding of statistical methods and machine learning algorithms.
- Passion for climate change and environmental issues.
- Knowledge of climate data sources.
- Understanding of climate impact ESG metrics and frameworks.
- Familiarity with geospatial data and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
