Our team is looking for a full-time backend engineer to join the engineering team and work directly with our CTO to build out Aurora's backend architecture.

The role reports directly to the CTO and has the potential to progress into an executive position across engineering and product.

Requirements

• Experience:
• 5+ years of production experience working with Django and Django Rest Framework (DRF), building scalable, reliable APIs and backend systems
• System Design Expertise:
• Strong knowledge of efficient system design principles, including database optimization, API performance, and architectural patterns for scalability and reliability
• Linux & Networking:
• Solid foundation in GNU/Linux systems, shell scripting, and understanding of network protocols, security, and troubleshooting
• Cloud Experience:
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including services like GKE, CloudSQL, and Cloud Run, with a focus on deployment, scaling, and monitoring production systems
• Testing and Quality Assurance:
• Proficiency in writing and maintaining tests (unit, integration) using frameworks like pytest or Django Test Client to ensure robust and maintainable code
• Database Knowledge:
• Strong experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), including schema design, query optimization, and migrations
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus
• Security Awareness:
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and experience implementing API authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g., OAuth2, JWT)
• Collaboration & Communication Skills:
• Effective communication and teamwork skills for working in cross-functional teams with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers
• Documentation Skills:
• Ability to create clear, comprehensive, and consistent documentation for APIs, workflows, and system architecture
