Technical Product Manager - Matching Engine

What is the role about?

As a Technical Product Manager at Bitvavo, you will be instrumental in driving the performance and scalability of the Matching Engine, which lies at the heart of our exchange operations. This role requires a solid understanding of financial market mechanisms, order matching algorithms and low-latency systems.

In this role, you will be responsible for defining and executing the product strategy for the Matching Engine domain, collaborating closely with engineering teams, product stakeholders and business units.

How will you make an impact?

The Matching Engine team plays a critical role in Bitvavo's exchange infrastructure, powering the key processes that drive our trading platform. The team is responsible, amongst others, for the performance and reliability of the matching engines, managing user balances and ensuring accuracy across the platform, as well as supporting order types, order matching and regulatory compliance requirements.

As a Technical Product Manager for the Matching Engine domain, your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and maintaining the product roadmap, prioritising initiatives to align with company and product strategies
• Conducting market research and interviewing market makers to gather insights and establish benchmarks for Matching Engine performance
• Translating technical and regulatory requirements into detailed product specifications for new developments, including advanced order types, compliance adaptations, and performance enhancements
• Monitoring and analysing Matching Engine performance data and team KPIs to identify areas for improvement
  
  

How will you be successful?

• 5+ years of experience in technical product management, within financial or trading systems
• A strong technical background, with familiarity in backend systems, distributed architectures, and API-driven environments
• Proven experience in financial products requiring high speed and performance, such as stock exchanges, crypto exchanges, brokers or trading platforms, HFT trading systems
• Deep understanding of financial markets, market microstructure and the trading industry
• Exceptional skills in project management and cross-functional collaboration, with a delivery-focused mindset
• Experience with complex deployment planning, ideally in regulated environments
