JOB PURPOSE I OBJECTIVE
Maintain and supervise the existing Distributed Control System (DCS) and Emergency Shutdown System (ESD I SIS) Check events logs for timely reporting and perform regular system back-ups in order to achieve smooth functioning of the plant’s control systems.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Control Systems Maintenance and Reporting
- Monitor & supervise the existing DCS, and ESD systems to identify and resolve any issues and carry out minor configuration changes to databases and graphics of these systems in order to ensure system reliability and easy access to the end users.
- Check server event logs on a daily basis and report findings in order to provide accurate data about plant operations.
- Maintain DCS & SIS systems AV, MS patches and System Patches.
Assistance to Maintenance & Production Department
- Provide day to day assistance to Maintenance Department’s technicians in order to help them with the inspection and/or replacement of any faulty devices.
- Provide assistance and the required support to production team in order to understand the configured logic how is working and perform logic bypass.
- Plan and perform the execution of logic bypass related to MICS PM.
Network Installation, Maintenance and Back-up
- Perform network installation, system house-keeping and preventive maintenance activities through continuous monitoring of network health in order to ensure cyber security and timely troubleshooting.
- Perform regular system back-ups in order to ensure disaster recovery.
- Support ICS Cybersecurity team for DCS & SIS cybersecurity related.

- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for the continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices in order to increase productivity and operational efficiency.
- Implement all relevant policies, processes, procedures and instructions of Instrument and Electrical Section so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Quality, Health, Cybersecurity, Safety and Environment
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant quality, health, safety, ICS cybersecurity and environmental procedures and controls across Instrument and Electrical Section to guarantee employee safety and delivery of high-quality products/services.
Reporting
- Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet departmental & Company requirements, policies and standards.
Qatarization
- Contribute to the development of Qatari employees. This accountability is applicable to expatriate employees only.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education
Required: Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Process Control Engineering /Instrumentation & Control Engineering.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Control Engineering or similar discipline.
Experience
Required: 3-5 years of experience in the O&G Industry or similar, out of which 2 years at an DCS technician level.
Preferred: Experience in DCS/SIS in Petrochemicals Industry.
Other Job Specific Requirements and/or Vocational Accreditations
- In-depth understanding of control system engineering and network protocols Hands-on experience of working with PLC, DCS, and ESD systems.
Languages
Required: English - proficient.
Preferred: Arabic - working knowledge
