What will you be doing?

As a Data Engineer on our expanding Belgian team, you will play a crucial role in architecting and developing scalable, high-performance data pipelines and infrastructures. You’ll leverage your expertise in modern data technologies to solve complex business challenges and enable clients to make data-driven decisions. This role is ideal for someone passionate about data engineering, cloud platforms, and building solutions that make an impact.

Working with advanced cloud technologies, data frameworks, and orchestration tools, you will design, implement, and optimize data pipelines for seamless data flow and business insights. Your work will contribute directly to the success of our clients’ data strategies, from data modeling to ETL/ELT processes and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients to assess their data needs and design tailored, cloud-based data solutions that enable data-driven decision-making.
• Build and manage end-to-end data pipelines utilizing cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and tools such as Apache Spark and DBT.
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes to ensure efficient transformation and delivery of data for analytics and reporting.
• Leverage modern data warehousing solutions like Redshift, BigQuery, and Snowflake to store and query large-scale datasets.
• Implement data streaming and messaging technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, Flink, Storm) to support real-time data processing.
• Design data workflows using Apache Airflow or similar orchestration tools to automate and manage data processes.
• Ensure data quality, performance, and reliability by applying best practices in data engineering, modeling, and cloud optimization.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams across different regions, contributing to both client and internal projects.
• Participate in innovation-driven initiatives, helping to shape strategic directions for both Agoya and its clients.

Are you the one?

• Cloud Expertise: Solid experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Azure (AWS or GCP experience also considered).
• Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python, with experience in Java or Scala considered a strong asset.
• Database Knowledge: Hands-on experience with databases like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other relational and NoSQL databases.
• Modern Data Stack: Familiarity with modern data warehousing solutions such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks.
• Data Streaming & Messaging: Knowledge or interest in real-time data streaming and messaging technologies such as Apache Kafka or similar tools.
• Data Orchestration: Understanding and experience with data orchestration tools, ideally Apache Airflow, to automate data workflows.
• Data Modeling & ETL/ELT: Strong knowledge of data modeling and experience with building ETL/ELT pipelines to transform and load data.
• Languages: You speak Dutch or French fluently & English.

Extra Points

• Cloud Certifications: Certifications in Azure, AWS, or GCP are a big plus.
• Experience with Data Streaming: Practical experience with data streaming platforms like Kafka, Flink, or similar technologies.
• Data Engineering Projects: Demonstrated experience in designing and building end-to-end data engineering solutions in production environments.

Our Recruitment Process

Our process is designed to be straightforward and efficient, consisting of three interviews. First, you’ll connect with one of our recruitment specialists for an initial chat to get to know you better and discuss your experience. If there’s a match, you’ll proceed to the second interview to discuss the culture and dive deeper in understanding your future roadmap. After that there is the final interview, where we’ll dive deeper into your skills, expertise, and knowledge of relevant tools and technologies. These interviews will also provide more insight into the specific projects you’ll be working on.
